Poor steam deck performance?

This game is old and graphically not demanding at all. It should run at 1080p 60fps on high detail. Yet, in playing at 720p medium and frame rate is still choppy. What gives? The game is steam deck verified, but this is not good performance at all. Has anyone got the game to perform smoothly?

The new release (last major update September 2022) is quite demanding and toys like Steam Deck may not be capable, better to wait for next-gen hardware that can run high-end games properly.

Don’t know that I’d call the XIII remake “high end”… there’s no reason the SD can’t run it perfectly, it can run cyberpunk at 30fps, seriously… this is a PS2 era game. The remake doesn’t add a ton of detail. Something else is going on here. I mean it’s even Steam Deck edified to “run great”.
