Did I miss something?
I've been playing though as Shallistera. I'm up to Chapter 6 so far, but I feel like I've somehow missed a chapter or two worth of events relating to Shallotte.

At one point Raoul mentions that there is another alchemist named Shallie. Next time Lotte she shows up she's already BFFs with Stera. Like, the whole meeting and getting-to-know-each-other process just 100% happened off-screen. A chapter or two later and they've switched from calling each other 'Shallie' to 'Stera' and 'Lotte,' Less jarring than the first thing, but still completely off-screen.

I've gone to every event that was marked on the fast-travel thing. Were there a bunch of unmarked events that I missed, or is the writing just that bad?

My memory is vague on that, but from what I recall it was ''is the writing just that bad?''.
In terms of story having 2 protagonists doesnt really work well for this game.

Okay, I was worried I was gonna have to restart and scour every chapter for events.
Still disappointing, but at least I know I'm not going crazy.

Supposedly there are things happening in Shallotte's life that Shallistera doesn't need to know, and same happens in opposite.

That might make sense in terms of their perspective, but from a player's pov it makes the experience worse since it appears some big things happen for no reason.

Doesn't help that Lotte misses a lot of the more important character insights. Like for half the game she even sees Shallistera as some spoiled outsider (entirely due to her perconceived notions and bias) and since on Lotte's route you dont get to see Stella's scenes it can give the player a very skewed perspective on her and her companions. l

This is also why I always recommend Stella route over Lotte.
