Time Limit?
I keep hearing people mention a time limit, can anyone provide clarity on what the time limit is?

You responded incorrectly though lmao.
Idek the ♥♥♥♥ is your response.

To expand - the only games that do not have a time limit on steam is -
Shallie, Sophie, Lydie / Suelle, Lulua and Ryza.

From what I'm reading, the first in this Dusk trilogy has a relaxed time limit, the 2nd game's time limit is kind of a joke, and the 3rd (this game) doesn't have one at all.

But I have not played the games, just doing some research to see if I'd like them.

Relaxed time limit... My ass is relaxed.
Okay but seriously - Ayesha's time limit is in the Arland trilogy style. So you can fail because of time constraints and you basically travel from event to event. And you can miss like half of them if you do a lazy job.

In Escha & Logy you have chapters and for every chapter you have a set number of days to complete a main mission which you have to do and a bunch of sidequests which you may or may not do. You usually complete the main mission within the first ~10-20 days and then you can do whatever you want for the rest ~80 so failing is actually really hard since the requred missions are containted to the chapter and they only take a small ammount of time to complete.

In Shallie you also have chapters but nothing stops you from spending five weeks in chapter one and fifty years in chapter 2.
What I like to do is get enough money to buy all alchemy books and craft everything that I can before moving on to the next chapter.

Than you SO MUCH for the full explanation. Every other answer 'out there' just keeps saying (paraphrased) "E&L time ilmit is a joke/is kind of there/is and isn't there" - but they don't explain what that means.. I was wondering "What, do you get to... CHOOSE to apply a time limit or something?"

Because... what people call a "relaxed" time limit or a "generous" time limit has SO much to do with how they play (as in... how they play and feel satisfied) - I, similar to what you've posted, like to craft everything possible, have no little shadow-outlines... so for me, ANY traditional-time-limit feels a little "meh. I'm missing out on stuff" since everything the character does eats up time. Walking, picking up material, jeebus. Just saying "You'll have more than enough time to..." - many of these responses seem to make the assumption that the only goal for the player is to barrel through the story line to plat/get specific endings. Whilst there are certainly some who only feel they got 'the most' out of a game after being able to really do EVERYTHING. craft ALL the items, try at least 5 or 6 different ways to do a weapon/armor, etc. etc.

I mean... I'm playing Totori right now, wherein people are all "it's the greatest game EVAR.. and the time limit is tough but that's just so SATISFYING" I'm feeling... no... no, I'm leaving a whole lot of dangly, messy bits, don't like it...
