At least they were honest enough to be upfront about the banality
Playing through the tutorial you get a sense of things in far less than Steam's two-hour refund window.
I was expecting a tactical romp but the tutorial gets you right into the action via agonizing over the "mechanics" of how to move from point A to point B and how to interact with the most basic elements in the world.
Next up, a goofy stealth section with more goofy "mechanics" designed to suck the fun-factor and drain the player of any enthusiasm.
I've seen enough.

I agree that the tutorial is kinda lame, but the game actually gets better each time I complete a mission, so too bad you didn't give it a chance. In fact, instead you've chosen to invest your time into talking it down here. Was THAT really worth it?

Its one of the best alien games out there, you miss a huge one OP...sadly..

Very proud to have paid full price. Loved this one more than any other.

Yeah I dropped it at that section, I wasn't expecting it to be a bad stealth game.

The tutorial is really bad honestly, it gets a bit better after that until the ending which is also horrible unfortunately.

In no way is stealth a part of this game. Before you're spotted there is a window where you aren't seen, that's about it. Creating favorable situations then going guns blazing is the name of the game.

If the alien spots you, you're dead. It has really bad stealth mechanics, it doesn't have any skills or anything to help you. Even something like a basic ability to throw a rock to make noise somewhere to draw attention away from you is missing.

Although I have played through the game 26 times, I will say that the story mission/prologue is quite different from the standard missions that is 99% of the game. Too bad some players never get to enjoy the main content.

This game shines, when you control your full squad of marines.

Lmao? Shoot them? A rock to make noise? You get pulse rifles, shotguns, revolvers, submachine guns, plasma guns, sentry guns, RPG launcher....

edit: LMAO are you talking about the intro where it teaches you to move and take cover while also doing some exposition? Tip: Administrator Hayes is not a marine. She/you guide marines through the levels. I'd like to make a video game some day but having customers like you would drive me to madness.

Gamers are whiny babies with the attention span of a fruit fly and the patience of a Karen asking for the manager. I swear...

That is so true and it's painful. In the effort to moan about the game for being banal (lmao) he could have gotten to the first mission.

Are you high?
You can literally use the drone to make noise and lure enemies away from you, or even into landmines without being spotted.
In some areas it's a really OP tactic even.

You can also use silenced precision shots to kill enemies before getting spotted to make stealth kills.

He is talking about the very beginning intro section when you're controlling Hayes sneaking around about 3 minutes into the campaign. Basically the movement/camera/map tutorial.

"Can't distract with noise" ??

Laughs in overloaded noisemaker surrounded by mines in a welded room close to a hive.
CalicoJack 5 Dec, 2024 @ 1:21am
Yup. You can distract enemies in several ways.
And you can upgrade your team to move faster to slip by enemies faster and not get detected. Or you can upgrade to silenced sniper shots.
Of course you wouldnt know if you did not even complete the TUTORIAL.
