It's... Alright.
Don't expect SWAT 5 out of this game, and most importantly, get it on a 50% or more sale.
Gameplay is really solid, owing to the simple controls and the great guns. It was the first time I bothered to switch from my trusted gamepad to M+K, and I'd recommend SWAT 4 or RoN (but mostly SWAT 4) to anyone else looking to switch from controller to M+K.
The soundtrack is unexpectedly good.
As for the bad, well...
1) The suspect AI has been "fixed", in that it's not aimbotting anymore, or at least not as much as it used to. However, it's still just as aggressive as it used to be, so the average suspect has gone from "John Wick" to "completely suicidal".
2) Optimization is bad, real bad. I heard it's become even worse since the switch to Unreal Engine 5. Expect to spend at least one or two hours messing around in the settings, even if you have a high-end PC.
3) While I didn't have the game at the time, many older players pointed out that content is missing from previous updates. Among other things, the Adam Update allowed you to select different modes (such as Bomb Threat, Raid, etc...) for each available stage -- a feature that's completely absent post-1.0.
"B-but you can fix it with mods!"
Look, if I had that mindset, I'd be playing Bethesda games. I paid 40 bucks for this game, I believe it's well within my rights to expect a more polished experience.
