Game is good, however even Slaanesh would be mortified by CA's greed-driven DLC monetization scheme.

On another note, the dwarf rework added mechanics that go against the race's playstyle - they are a patient defensive race, why am I forced to aggressively conquer everything on a timer? This change destroyed my desire to play dwarf factions any further.

The game is fun and has been for years. But it crashes constantly since the last DLC was released.

Where to begin? I want preface this review by admitting that this is the first game of its type that I have really enjoyed. Having no real experience with games of this nature, I decided to put it off until a friend bought it for me as a gift to play together. This game is great and I hate that I'm just now getting into it. I'm the one confused by the DLC you have to buy to enjoy the game with blood and being told "it's to protect the kids" when kids really shouldn't be playing this in the first place.

Pros:
- This game is a joy to look at. The artwork is incredible and I take my hat off to the people that designed it.
- This game is great for beginners like me. The prologue, while not perfect, helped me understand the basics.
- The story is good so far. I've only beaten the prologue. The voice actors do a great job and the sound design is excellent.
- Controls are easy to use for noobs like me that don't play games with a mouse and keyboard. It's really got me into using them more.

Cons:
- Progression can be a little boring sometimes (i.e. building your cities). While I understand the premise, I wish they would have added more detail to them to make it look like they were living (kind of like Sid Meyers Civ, the closest thing I can think of to this game genre).
- There were times in the prologue where the difficulty spiked for me and I didn't realize it was because I really needed to progress my cities more before moving ahead. It would have been nice to let me know when it's a good time to fight and a good time to sit tight. Still, it helped me learn probably more that what the average Joe would need.
- The DLC is quite expensive and I still don't understand what they significantly offer. The blood DLC was confusing for me. I asked the friend that bought me this and he said they've always done this. Seems like a poor practice.

Final Verdict:
- Even if you're new to the genre, you should give this game a chance. It's a lot of fun (but I'll warn you a game take a long time, think Risk). It is really fun playing with friends and learning what race you enjoy playing as. Thanks for reading my review.
