I do have joysticks connected to the computer for my simulator games, and I have noticed some games misinterpreting that as input wrongly, could this be a case here as well?
Hmmm-- I wonder if the JoyStick is being registered as a gamepad. Does it work okay if you unplug the JoyStick? (Just for testing)
The effect was like it was "fighting" my mouse and keyboard for inputs. It would accept mouse for a second or two, then jump away, then back again to accepting mouse, I guess the "idle input" from the joysticks are different than regular gamepads and it interprets it as an active input for movement.
It is a Thrustmaster Joystick and a Thrustmaster Throttle (both had to be disconnected). They are usually always connected since my setup is also made to be able to run simulator games, but I also use the same pc for all my general gaming and computing :)
Yeah -- thats really odd. Basically once you move the mouse it sends the controller to "Sleep" mode, and the mouse takes over. Once you touch the gamepad again , it kicks it out of Sleep and throws the mouse up to the top corner basically.
So, trying to think of a way to fix this one. What if I threw an option in the Options menu to "disable" gamepad input? For instances like that, then you can leave the joystick plugged and tell the game to not register.
I do wonder why the joystick counts as never idle... definitely a weird one! I'd have to go pick one up to test it more (I mean, it wouldn't be wasted! I do have a soft spot for space sims like X4 :D )
first of all, thank you for the controller update! Really, really appreciate it!
Second, I wish you a well earned "holiday"/free time/quality time away from your work, you certainly "earned" it, thank you for everything so far regarding the game and updates!
Now to the controller implementation; I have a few issues with it. So mostly it plays absolutely fine and I have no bugs as to speak. What I do noticed however was
- I don't know how in combat I can hover over the icons under my character to see wich status/buffs/debuffs I have or the enemy has. Am i doing something wrong or is that control/feature missing?
- I can't hover over the enemy without an attack/target card to see how many "%" an enemy will fill the encounter gauge (for the lack of a better word, so that enemies won't keep respawning)
- and for the time being I don't get tooltips of keywords in combat when I hover over my cards in hand unless I open the deck via trigger buttongs or I use the mouse manually which takes seconds to register my mouse OR touchpad on laptop so I keep shuffling my mouse until I get the cursor back to see what certain keywords are.
Thanks again and I would really appreciate it if you somehow could resolve these issues if I didn't do something wrong with the controls
(for complete troubleshooting; I am using and XBOX Series Controller with USB Cable)
Thank you very much -- and no problem at all :) Hopefully the implemenation is smooth for you :) Let me know if this helps:
- To switch to access up there, you hit the LB button like you would outsideof combat to start scrolling over your artifacts/top bar information. Once you do that in combat it should center onto your starting artifact, and then you can navigate to your buffs/debuffs, enemy cards, enemy icons etc.
- Same for this one as well, LB to switch into that mode and you can hover over enemies -- I'll double check now that it does show their combat percentage but I'm pretty sure it does!
- Ahh -- great point. I'll fix that up today! Thank you !
Hope this helps!
I have not actually tried with the joysticks + my gamepad connected at once though. And ineed, having a joystick is rather fun for the space sims (also regular flight sims)! My thurstmastrers have been serving me well. :D
Sounds perfect, I'll get to work getting that implemented now, should only take about 30 minutes but it would need to go through translation (as it will have option text and a tooltip). I'm not sure if I can get that through before I leave here -- I'll see what I can do! If not, it will be first thing done as soon as I get back!
Okay I've fixed the tooltip issue on card hover! I've posted it to Beta just to ensure nothing broke, I'll sync to the live branch later today :) Sorry about that!
Thank you for the control tips with the LB Button, will try that asap! And no problem ofc, just glad you implemented the controller feature at all which is a huge plus.
happy holidays
I've just pushed a patch that fixes that!! Sorry! Let me know if its all good now :)
Definitely -- I'll look into that when I get back!
I totally derped on this -- I already had that option in there haha! If you go to Options -> Controls -> Disable Controller that should fix you issue :)
Tried it, it works now. Thank you for fixing this so quick! And thank you for making this awesome game!
I restarted the game several times and it still doesn't work, then I restarted without using a controller (mouse instead), and it works fine.
