It's a LONG needlessly complex process. But here it is. (ONLY WORKS WITH MEDIUM HIDES)

You need several things before you can even begin.
1. Drying rack
2. Small ore smelter structure
2. Lot of Medium Hides
3. 4 of the crude tannin structure things (You can use just 1, but it makes the process much slower.)
4. Water, Lentles, limestone, and bark.

When you have all that, you cook the limestone in the smelter to get the powder form. Then you craft the water/lentles/limestone powder/bark into each one's solutions. And put one of the solutions in each wash bin, and water in the last one.

Now dry the skins on the rack. Once that is done, take the dried hides and place them in the bin with the water. Wait 30 minutes. Move the soaked hides to the bin with the limestone solution. Wait another 30 minutes. Move the soft hides to the next bin with the lentle solution. Wait ANOTHER 30 minutes. Move the soft and supple hides to the last bin with the bark solution. Wait YET ANOTHER 30 minutes. You now have leather.

PS: Funny enough I've made leather in real life, and it takes less effort than it does in this game. (Granted I didn't use medieval methods aside from urine.)

It is a bit annoying to setup, since it takes 2 hours to make your first leather, but once you get it going it is easy to keep leather rolling in.

It is worth noting that each tanning vat has 10 slots and it does multiple skins at a time if they are in different slots. So once you have it up and running you can do 16 leather an hour with 4 vats.

Since they run offline, you can run 3 slots (2 for water) of solution, 3 empty spots and 60 skins across 4 slots (15 in each) to do 60 skins per vat in 7.5 hours while offline.
