Perpetual Motion!
What's going on?
  • Every week, one map from the workshop will be featured on the "Level Select" menu under "Featured Workshop Missions."

  • Players will have 7 days to get their best time in either Single-Player or Multi-Player. (information on what makes a run elligible below)

  • At the end of each 7 day period, the runs will be reviewed, and prizes will be awarded.

  • At the end of every 6-week period, a discussion will be posted asking for players to vote on their favourite map. The map with the most votes will win their choice of one of the Grand Prizes! (The voting will last 14 days, so players may review each map again)

How do I compete in the Mappers' Contest?
  • There is no entry form or signature required, and all maps from the past, present, and future will be elligible to be chosen for this contest.

  • For a map to be elligible, it must meet the following criteria:
    • The player must be able to clean out and complete the level.
    • There must be a decent balance of coins throughout the level (it can't have a ton of safes sitting around).
    • There must be at least 4 playable characters (More is Better!).
    • It must have at least 2 floors, but may have as many as necessary.
    • Gameplay must be moderately smooth, without forcing the players to go down 2 floors in order to go back up 3 floors or silly stuff like that.
    • None of the following errors:
      • No pitch-black rooms/areas (if the power is out, then it's okay)
      • Civilians/Guards should not be stuck on Seating unless clearly intentional
      • Secret passages should NOT be necessary to complete the level.
      • Traps Need to be wired (Lasers, ATMs, Pressure Plates, etc)
      • Items should have a surface beneath them, although not 100% necessary.
    • The More fun the level is, the better!

  • The selection process!
    • Every map in the workshop is tested to see if it meets the previously mentioned criteria (excluding ones that are named "My Stage" or similarly silly names, and ones that have a sideview with just one or two solid lines across it).

    • All maps that meet the criteria are then placed on the "Master List" in Chronological order.

    • Every map is assigned a card value (standard 52 card deck).

    • A deck is then shuffled about 8 times, being cut randomly between shuffles to ensure maximum randomization.

    • After adequate mixing-up, the top two cards are drawn, and the corresponding maps are given a point (if a card doesn't match a map, then cards are drawn until 2 maps are selected).

    • The first map to achieve 4 points is then selected to be featured with the following rules:
      • Newer maps* require only 3 points to win the draw.
      • Maps made by myself require an additional point to win.
      • The map that wins is tested a final time, ensuring that every trap is wired, all loot is obtainable, and gameplay isn't over-the-top difficult or easy.
*Newer maps include the newest 12-16 maps on the Master List.
[/list]
How do I compete in the Runners' Contest?
  • For a run to be elligible for the Team category, at least one member of the team must provide a video of the run, from character select to the "Level Complete" screen
    • Example Video: (Thank you rVII!)
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BcR-MFKVyjI

  • For a run to be elligible for the Solo-Runner category, the competitor must provide a screen shot of the "Level Complete" screen or a video of the entire run.
    • Example Screen Shot:
    http://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=189240761

  • The following restrictions also apply:
    • The creator of a map is not elligible to compete for the Solo-Runner competition.

    • If a player is competing in the Team competition for a particular week, they are not elligible to win the Solo-Runner competition for that week.

    • The winners of the Team competition cannot compete with any other members of the winning team.
      • They may instead form a new team with 3 different players.
      • This team restriction lasts 3 weeks.
        • Example:
        • Player 1, 2, 3, and 4 win week 1.
        • Player 3, 5, 6, and 7 form a new team to compete for week 2, and win.
        • Player 3 then forms a team with Players 8, 9, and 10 and wins week 3.
        • Player 3 cannot compete with Players 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, or 10 during week 4, so they sit out.
        • Player 3 can now compete with Players 1, 2, and 4 for week 5.

    • The winners of each Solo-Runner competition will not be elligible to compete in the Solo Category for the remainder of the 7-week period.

Schedule & Prizes:
  • This ongoing event will run on a weekly schedule, beginning every Sunday at ~3-6pm GMT and ending every Sunday at 3pm GMT (please check online to find out what time that is in your area to avoid confusion).

  • Major holiday seasons may or may not effect this schedule, depending on your feedback.

What do the T-shirts look like? Is there an image?
Annexed 28 OCT 2013 a las 11:41 a. m.
The devs sold t-shirts back in 2011 to help fund the game development. I presume it's these, unless they had new ones made since then:

Friend me and link it privately, I'll also open up a new thread if people wish to post it publicly.

I haven't yet, since Steam isn't loading half the pages I try to open.

Don't thank me! It was a random selection. I'll fill everyone in on the process when I have time, I've been so busy lately! :idol:

Yes, I read it, but thank you, this is anyway a surprise ^^ I just hope that rabbits are not abused if the selection process involves a hat.

No rabbits were harmed in the making of this competition*

Wow, that's complex. I assumed it would be something like http://www.random.org/. Are maps allowed to repeat, i.e. show up in future weeks?

I've thought of this website actually (I have used it in the past), but since I wanted to make newer maps a little more likely, I would have to use the point system with this.

Although the Atmospheric Noise is random enough for a single drawing, when you use it multiple times in a row, you tend to hit around the same values, plus or minus ~30%, and that just isn't good enough for me.

Or at least that's how one of my previous "random" tests went. Results may vary.

Thanks a lot! :D This will be amazing and very fun :P
I have a question, if i send you a screenshot of my run and later i get a better time it is valid if i send you the other screenshot? Thanks again :)

I think it's best to use video whenever possible. There's no debating a good video, and you can share the victory with everyone!
