@ChevyNoel, I really can't recommend it to you if your plan is to pick it up for the fresh influx of online players! The multiplayer activity is approximately the same of the Steam version...
To be honest the port is a bit disappointing to me, but the gameplay seems, for the most part, not affected at all.
The zoom level is the same of the PC version set at 720p, but the resolution is below that, there is no resolution boost on the dock, and the blueprint texture got a major hit in quality...
I also found a bug that, when you move around between some areas, makes the sound 'pop'... You can hear it even if you set off every specific Monaco audio setting (not the Switch audio of course).
As I was expecting I couldn't find any textual chat, and the voice chat follows the Nintendo policy of using the -not very good- smartphone app's.
I haven't found a way to check the ping either, and of course you can't do the blueprint trick (to update the map with the broken walls) alt-tabbing, if not moving to another floor and going back.
But it is nice that you can take the 30 seconds video snaps, which some games don't support.
Seems like the classic mode was been removed, as well with the editor and user created maps.
I would really love to see it getting some updates and at least improve the resolution, but I'm already very grateful to the developers to have finally made this dream of having Monaco on the go came true!
Thank you!
Playing local multiplayer games takes some getting used too with the camera zooming way out, but in my case it's hurting the people I'm trying to introduce to the game more than myself. Online multiplayer is okay, but kinda relying on Discord to direct Friend code people rather than searching, which is kinda expected.
I'm reasonably happy with this, although I do kind of worry if a screen-split with merge when nearby would have worked better.
