Do you guys actually get taken out by threat echos?
Like, I literally unload my gun if a tape's dialogue even kinda starts to sound a little off. I sometimes will even unload my gun before picking up a tape just to be safe. Are people actually losing progress to threat echos?

Someone who went into the game 100% blind and has never encountered a Threat Echo before may well die to one, but after the initial surprise they aren't especially hard to deal with.
well the first time that I got a threat echo it got me but after that I learned, tbh the only way that threat echoes beat me now its if I have found multiple tapes quickly and I'm not paying attention at the tapes.

Not after the first time. I disabled them in the options because once you know what's up, they serve no purpose other than to waste your time.

You can stop the tape from playing and discharge your weapon at your convenience. These tapes are not that dangerous.
The first time I encountered it (literally 10 minutes ago) I immediately recognized it. It started to sound like my thoughts were being played verbatim, then I completely dropped every round in the cylinder.

I personally play to experience games entirely, and after having gone through something like this before irl, its pretty reassuring that I reacted quite fast for my first time in this game.
