Error Report Thread
Device Issues:
If your game has flashing or glitching images, you can usually solve that with this:
Pressing Shift + G and change the renderer. Changing it to ANGLE renderer.

If the game doesn't install, crashes, or is reported as having a virus. We use Python programming files in the game and those are sometimes falsely flagged as being dangerous. That can mean your firewall/virus scanner may block the game from being installed, remove the file from your computer sometime after it's installed, or force the game to stop then crash while playing. Turning your scanner off while installing/playing, seeing if the antivirus program needs an update, and/or finding a way to tell the scanner that Our Life is safe are ways to potentially fix the problem.

Crashing/Install problems are also sometimes caused by issues with settings for your graphics card(s).

Uninstalling the game and clearing the cache is sometimes needed if you're trying to update the game/add a DLC and it's not working.

If you find a typo, script inconsistency, bug or any other issue with Our Life you're welcome to tell us about it here.

If you played the demo or a beta build, please remember to start the game with the New File button rather than continuing. There will be errors for sure unless you start the complete version totally fresh. Old save files can be cleared out by hovering over them and hitting the "delete" key on your keyboard.

Also, if the engine does report an error, you can hit "ignore" and almost always the game will continue from there. In most cases you won't lose your file or have to stop playing the game entirely.

Whenever i try to install the game it gets very close to completing, then stops and it says disk write error and that our life beginnings and always.exe is missing, ive tried uninstalling and reinstalling, clearing download data, restarting my pc and steam and i even tested to see if i had this problem with other games and i dont. I can install the main game from itch.io but i still paid on steam for the dlcs so idk what to do

What may be happening is that a firewall or file scanner isn't letting the game through. We're a very small group using a niche engine and sometimes computers block the game on Steam. It doesn't tend to happen with Itch, though. If you can allow greater access for downloading files or temporarily turn off any virus scanners you have, the download may finally go through. Let us know if you're still having trouble!

If you're using the Cove creator in the gallery you can still push the buttons to change the step, which makes creator shift to that step. The button for step 2 is right in the middle of the pants option, so while I was playing around with the step 3 creator, it suddenly shifted to step 2 Cove.

I have no idea why, but when I start the game and exit the creation screen I play for a few minutes and then the game freezes. I tried switching the graphics to directX, but it still freezes. I'm on a laptop if that has anything to do with it.

Is it freezing in the same scene? We could check there to see if there's an error in that specific spot. If it happens pretty much anywhere, your laptop might be struggling to play the game. Maybe try turning the animation off to make it easier to run?

I'm so sorry to be a bother, but I can't seem to change my first name. I can click on the last one and change it but nothing happens when I go to click on the first one. I have the dlc downloaded i don't know if that could be part of the problem. I tried clicking on None in the voiced name option but it was already on it and if I click on like default it doesn't change over. I have uninstalled and reinstalled and it still seems to be a problem. If I am missing something please let me know. I am sorry if this is just a me bug or if I just installed something wrong. Hope you have a lovely day and that the release goes well

Sorry, it's a little finicky. When the screen first opens don't click the last name or the voiced name or anything. If you just start typing or backspacing, the first name is what you'll change. After that you can move on to the last name and anything else :)

In the charity memory of the 3rd step, theres a CG where cove shows you a firefly. I choose for him to have no glasses, but he has a red one in the cg! hehe. error mayb

Same thing happen in the drive where he drives you home.

And the scene with the flowers.

Hi there,

I can't seem to load my save file. Can you please help me? I'm getting this error message:

"I'm sorry, but an uncaught exception occurred.

While running game code:

Are you trying to load a save from an older build of the game? Like the demo or beta? Unfortunately, you have to use the "New File" button to properly begin the finished game. Old saves won't work because of how much programming has changed.
