Brawler on hard.
So, I started a new save with Brawler on hard to get the achievements. And it was smooth sailing for the most part, until I got to Tommy and apparently the allowed response time dropped dramatically. I mean, I was to the point of simply choosing an attack without trying to read them and sometimes I still wasn't fast enough.

Is there a way to address this? I mean my skills are maxed... Caleb was easy. Tommy seems not quite impossible, but certainly extremely difficult. Is this everyone else's experience too?

Yes, Tommy ramps it up. He's got a counterpunch, so make sure you don't miss your punches/kicks. Personally, I just focus on the options/arrows and ignore the renders showing the action... The next fight... whew... haha
Good suggestion. I probably was losing a fraction of a second trying to watch the animations. Next last fight is sparring with Sage, right? It is actually harder than Tommy?

Yes Sage is a bad ass!
Well, I guess I can worry about Sage after (if?) I manage to get past Tommy. But hard to imagine beating someone harder than Tommy.

If you're struggling with reaction times go into your options and turn on "Skip Transitions" these are the little fade cuts in-between pics. Transitions are good for 99% of the game but seems to absorb half a second of brawler reaction time.
I was struggling with these fights until I was told that I could save progress during the fight. With save/reload you should be able to get through.

Haha. Great idea. I probably would have thought of this eventually. That's how I got 600 points on the pancake flipping the first time. Although later I was able to do it "legitimately".
I wouldn't rely on that tactic

Yeah, it wasn't easy on the pancake flipping, I imagine doing for a fight would be even harder.
Just saying don't rely on a tactic that involves saving in minigames

I just tried this and if makes a difference it is a really small one. The only time I am able to complete a five key sequence is if it has three of the same consecutively.
The topic "Sage fight is twisting my shorts"

contains many different ideas and hints to that and Tommy's fight. Might be worth a look.

Yeah its not much but theres really not many options. Turning off transitions was enough for me when I was getting the achievements, I only heard about saving mid fight after but I cant imagine that being too helpful
Try beating Sage on hard while being drunk. Then fighting Tommy would seem a piece of cake.
Personally, I just press tab once a tough fight starts so that all in-between slides are skipped and I can focus on inputs. Turning off transitions probably does the same (never tried that). The important part about Tommy/Sage fights is that even with maxed dexterity there's barely any time to choose your move, so instead of looking for powerful ones use whatever non-fail you see first.
Well, after finishing everything else up, beating Tommy and Sage are the last remaining achievements. I'll try for a while and hope a mixture of the tips here, some luck in the moves asked for, and me having a good day might get me past it. However, I suspect the reaction times of this old man might be too slow to manage it. I'll let you know if I manage to succeed.

Thanks.
