While the gameplay is as it should where you see the whole screen and effects and the special edition adds further fixes and extra sprite animations, I could not feel the music at all.
I remember I used to pump up the volume, especially during the Escape stage in the DOS version. Here you hear standard FM synthesis without any impact. This was more important to me than the gameplay.
DOS version has much richer variety and synth sounds.
At least Lionking music is more or less the same.

The best version would be the Special Edition where they add the DOS music instead or present you a choice to choose between both classic and remastered tracks.
