6-7/10, alright, if somewhat underwhelming, casual game.

The main pull is the crafting system, which, I feel needs the clarification in that this is not in the sense that it is _complex_ (like what you would see any factory game where you have to process raw materials into increasingly complicated component chains), but rather that the process of crafting itself is a bit more involved than just collecting all input materials and clicking a button.
Every craft can be thought of as its own skill tree that you fill out with various items to affect the final result.
That is not to say that there is no complexity to crafting, i.e., making more complicated components from less complicated ones - there is - but the game rather quickly gives you a way to remove that concern before it becomes relevant.
There is some depth to the crafting like the traits you want on the items, the quality of the results, and it can be interesting to some to obsess over what is the best way to craft some of the items you might need.

Sadly, it felt like the game has really failed to provide any engaging reason to fully explore this depth.
For example, let's take crafting, which is the main pull of this game and atelier series as a whole.
It is really only challenging at the start, and for the wrong reasons in that you just don't have any decent materials and the amount you can insert is low.
As you progress through the game it becomes significantly easier and easier, to the extreme of just becoming a busywork rather than something you really think about.
The game also does this annoying thing where it shows you what you _can_ create, while gating the actual items behind the story, at worst much later into the story.
A lot of significant quality of life improvements are also gated behind the story, and by about half-way you get all of them and it becomes possible to completely break the crafting system apart.
Outside of crafting, there really is not anything to pull you in or give you a context in which you would care for your efforts.
The only time it comes close is again at the start, when you craft your first battle item as it is a significant boost if your battle power.
However, that "significant boost" is going from fights feeling normal to one-shotting basically everything.
Every now and then you might feel compelled to update your arsenal, but that is to keep yourself at the one-shot range rather than to go anywhere further.
To highlight how bad it was, somewhere in the middle of the game, when I got one of the most important QoL items from the story, I felt compelled to make a semi-serious build just to see how busted I can get.
That build was strong enough to not only carry me through the whole game and make the final boss a joke (that the story insists was supposed to be a legendary terrible force of nature that ruined a much more advanced civilization of alchemists), but defeat some of the optional post-game bosses that the game just kinda throws in some areas you might be around.
The battle system is also extremely simplistic and does not tie into the crafting system much.
For some reason it is real-time rather than turn-based so you can not make your team act like a cohesive unit or form any sort of strategy that would very naturally tie into the crafting system's depth.
The typical approach is that you leave your other team members on auto-primary-attack while you spam the items with character of your choice.
Story is okay, and the game is kinda engaging if you heavily focus on it, though it really likes to throw "wait 1-3 days and go to this place" at you.
GUI is kinda clunky, it is obviously a controller-first game that just got a port to PC, but it is functional.
Some of the QoL things are critically missing, worst one being inventory clearing - you are given a 5K chest to store your items in, which is plenty, but if want to clear it (e.g., if you are a hoarder or obsessive kleptomaniac) you would have to select which items to delete _one at a time_.

Overall, decent game, could be okay if you want something casual.
It feels like it could have been so much more, but the developers only concentrated on the crafting system without really thinking about anything else.
Early game also felt really lacking, which I especially felt as I really like to explore instead of focusing on the story, but this game is precisely at its worst when you do not rush the story.
This entry is about to get canned for the DX re-release, so if you are planning to get this game, wait until then as it seems that the publisher is not nice enough to give you a copy of the enhanced version if you buy this one.
Would also recommend getting on sale only.
