If you like Nier Automata, you'll probably like this. Substantially less android ass, I know, but the fun combat is there, the chill music and somewhat somber somewhat chill post apocalyptic world is too. Nier and Nier Automata play almost the same. That said, it's a little more than just a reskin. Dashing is totally different in this. And there's some kind of "word" system that I don't fully grasp yet, but allows you to have different other attacks. It's similar to the pod. I will say I preferred the UI in Nier Automata, especially with how it plays into the theme by having it be part of the chips sytem. However, this has a ui that feels like old PS2 games, and I'm digging that.

I played NieR: Automata first, so this is a prequel for me. Automata is a way better game IMHO, starting from the music - but ymmv because I can understand it can be a matter of taste. Gameplay is similar too, being slightly different mainly because it's a fantasy game instead of a sci-fi one.
Anyway if you played NieR: Automata and liked the story, I recommend to play this game too: you'll find many familiar things and concepts from Automata - also Yoko Taro is a sick (in a good way) man so lots of weird philosophy and symbolism and all... also: GLORY TO MANKIND!

Yoko Taro is a genius, who else can make such a masterpiece?
