L.A. Noire - The game does not let me drive, at all (NOT SOLVED ANYMORE)

So I just got the game recently and I ran into some really odd problems that google didn't solve for me so far.

The major one is that, whenever I get to a point where there should be driving Phelps takes out his notebook and just instructs his partner to drive despite me not having done anything to tell him to to so. He'll do this everytime regardless of what I do. I can even sit on the drivers seat already and he'll just get out and leave his partner to drive.
It's gotten so bad at times that both Phelps and his buddy kept getting in and out of the vehicle because apparently they couldn't decide on who was to drive.

To me it's a major issue and I can't figure out what to do about it, I switched around the key bindings, unplugged all my controllers/joysticks only leaving the mouse and keyboard in, working on the latest patch steam gave me, so on and so forth.

I'd apprechiate any sort of help

PS: I might also have to add having to press the spacebar a thousand times to initiate any conversations as a problem.

SOLVED: Ah right, stupid me I didn't test out running the game as administrator. Alright to anyone having the same problems the solution seems to be to set the .exes for launcher and the game itself into admin mode, at least that did it for me.

Scratch that, eversince I upgraded my graphics card the bug's been back and this time it doesn't seem to go away no matter what I do. Admin mode, non-admin mode, any graphics settings, installing latest drivers, anything ... I'm at a loss.

Well it was fun while it worked by that seems like it may have been a waste of money ...

But again if anyone has an idea on what to do please leave a comment

same issue. I thought it was keyboard keys stuck but no fix...made game near unplayable with another bug i found, in foot pursuits where you "run toward the gap to jump" yeah just stop at the edge....doesnt matter where on the ledge i go to it will not jump the gap, but ladders work fine

For some reason my copy started working again a while ago. I'm not sure what I did to fix it anymore though, which is a bummer.

I briefly recall to have played around with some of the graphics options, setting them lower (despite the new card), although I doubt that was what fixed the game.

Put '-joysticktype 1' (without quotes) in your Steam launch options.

Go to your game settings and find the Gameplay menu, inside make sure you dont have Action Skip enabled.

This is another shot in the dark, but maybe try unplugging controllers, using different controllers, and even trying a different mouse and keyboard. Also try using your mouse/kb software to change some settings, like lowering the polling rates, etc that maybe this old game cant deal with. Just an idea.
