Now, as we know, what terrors came from beyond Portal, it's time to meet brave warriors of the Irdor.

The entire industry of the City has one purpose - to keep those guys well fed and equipped, ready for the Night.

Every Irdor's unit has its counterpart in the Shadows army, but we ensured they had their strengths and weaknesses.
Let us take an Archers:

He is better equipped than rag wearing archers of Shadows for the first sight, and they also have better range and more devastating shots. Human archers are pretty expensive to keep, though, and most of the time, you will find shadows outnumbering you by a lot.

Archers can be further upgraded while shadows don't seem to have high esteem for ranged combat (they prefer to flood the enemy with a backup of magic and arcane infused walking war machines like Taran).

We will discuss all those units separately in future Devlogs.
Also, a little announcement:
Future Devlogs will be written as a Shadows Point of View story of the first conquer.
It will be not a part of the game as the in-game story is happening hundreds of years later, but it will be the part of the Lore and will give us a little insight into the enemy :)

It's been a while. Guess we owe you some goodies :)

The army of darkness has grown of two new enemies.

The unstoppable force that will meet impenetrable defences of the Wall.
THE mightiest of all shadows. Pure rage packed into an ironclad of magic-infused heavy armour, basically a walking siege machine. Taran means the battering ram in Polish, and we believe this name fits him well. There is no unit in forces of humanity that could toe a toe with him.

The fragile but fearsome backbone of ranged troops in the army of darkness:

Equipped with light armour and a bow, Shadow Archers support frontlines with a constant barrage of arrows. Alone they are almost no threat, but the bow is a weapon you use in mass during the battle.

Thankfully when it comes to ranged troops, humanity stands superior.

"If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle."

Now, as we "know" the enemy, it's time to know ourselves In the next Devlog - Defenders of Irdor.

Greetings Defenders!

We have a few important announcements.

• Big Battle: Defend the Wall new name is Siege of Irdor
  
• Our Steam Store page is now updated with a new art style
  
• The Publisher has changed to Vision Edge Entertainment. VEE are publishing another game of HardCodeWay "Dinos Reborn". We are very happy with the professionalism and results of the devteam. Therefore we have decided to extend our cooperation and publish another game of HardCodeWay.

Let's recap what Siege of Irdor is all about.
In 1038 a gateway appeared out of nowhere from which all sorts of nightmares started to crawl out. Vast numbers of determined and fearful warriors stood against the army of darkness. They fought and died in huge numbers. Humanity stopped the Evil but... never defeated. Now they are back.

We play as the commander of The Wall. It is a massive blockade combined with the town and villages built after the previous War to protect the lands of Irdor.

After years of threat remaining silent, the whole place deteriorated. Now it's our task to rebuild the area, stop Shadows and find a way to defeat them once for all.

Gameplay-wise the game combines several well-known mechanics and add some twists to the genre.

The game divides into two stages - Night & Day. The Day is when we are building our town and economy, recruiting and upgrading troops, gathering food and resources.

This part of the game is a city builder with inspired games like the Settlers, Spellforce 3 or Northgard. We are also veterans of city builders classics like Zeus, Pharaoh or Caesar ant this will leave a mark on the Siege of Irdor as well. We don't want to make it too sophisticated but it should be more complex than Your average RTS game.

Additionally, the game has seasons. Depending on the season, some of the resources are less available or straight unavailable.

At Night the game is changing. During the Night, the game becomes a mix of classic RTS games with many tower defence mechanics. The Wall itself has a complex system of destruction that will sink our resources during the Day to repair breaches.

Who are the Shadows? Why did they come to this world, and why they were inactive for such a long time. Will You be able to save the Kingdom of Irdor, or will You fall under powers of darkness?
Currently, we are playtesting combat. SoI units come with various passives and skills, so there is a lot to balance. We are constantly improving graphics. The new trailer is basically ready, and we are just waiting for a cool event to publish it ;)

Greetings Defenders.

As said in the last Devlog we are not alone against Invasion. The game will be divided into two kinds of maps. The Town map and The World Map. We will talk about The World Map another time.

The first and main one is The Wall and the Town we are building nearby. Let's call it Town Map for now. It is the core of our game economy and the main battlefield. Here we are building, managing and fighting in RTS gameplay. We also will receive a variety of story quests and randomized side-quests here.
Zug Zug intensifies.

This map is BIG. It will contain The Portal area, No-mans land, The Wall, The Town, The Village, The Forest, The Sea or Lake (we need to decide, Big Lake with rivers is more tempting) and some more areas.

Country rooooads....

Today we will talk about the Village. During the campaign, there will be a possibility to help rebuild the Village and establish Trade Route with them. They will send Trading Cart to our Town and allow us to trade with them from time to time. Trading will be manual and will allow us to exchange advanced Town made resources for much-needed food or wood from the Village.

Two prerequisites need to be achieved. The first is to complete the Rebuild the Village chain quest, and the second one is to build a marketplace:
The Marketplace will allow trading not only with the Village but also with other towns on World Map.
World map will work similarly to the classics like Pharaoh, Zeus: Master of Olympus or Caesar series with some of our ideas and improvements. We will talk about it thoroughly in the future.

Beware, Wall Defenders.

He is coming. The Shadow Commander
Or instead, we should say THEY are coming as we will face several Shadow Commanders during the game.

They will have some core abilities in common, but they will differ every time you meet one of those.
All of them will have heavy plate armour and sword. Some will bring Large Shields.

When we manage to kill one of them, all enemy units receive statistics debuff. It creates a nice tactical choice on the battlefield and allows us to leverage the debuff effect for our benefit. Mind he will be always guarded by his bodyguards (unit not yet revealed)

Every commander will have his own combat skills.

Commander stats increase each time we met them.

And to not make it too easy we made them quite big. Not as Big as Alpha Shadows but still...

Currently, our time is devoured by the technical aspects of the project.

We add in-game quests, decrees, research and much more. We are also starting work on advanced artificial intelligence that requires time from us and which we will show soon.

In this Devlog, we want to share some refreshed graphics and improved lighting with you. As promised, we are preparing a short video with each Devlog:
Recently we have improved The Day and Night system.
We made shadows and light reflections. We have added new water where you can fish or send hunting boats from the port. We put a lot of emphasis on food in the game - as we often said, it is a crucial gameplay element in Big Battle.
We also added l destruction system of The Wall along with physics
We are slowly bringing our units back to life :) - We are adding more and more animations to them and working on advanced artificial intelligence on the battlefield and more.

In the end, we present you new buildings:

Workers Hut: we can buy our workers here for work

Iron mine: This mineral is very important in machine building (catapult etc.), and is also necessary for a blacksmith to upgrade our units (armour and weapons).

Alchemy laboratory: This one deserves a separate Devlog :)

From now on we will prepare short videos for every Devlog with a showcase of our current work.
Without further ado, the video is below
In the video, we can see level two of The Wall. Like most buildings in the game, it will have three upgrades, but upgrading a wall is a task way more demanding than other buildings.

Like one might notice, The Wall is a tough nut to crack. Massive Gates, Towers and a Ditch. And it's not even its final form.

As we were mentioned in previous Devlogs. The day is a time of Peace, and Night is a time of War.
With more towers ready.

We will set our archers on the walls and towers and various defence systems like boiling oil.

Additionally, we will be able to support our defences with Siege Machines. Preferably hidden behind the Wall, but we are not going to stop Winterfell Tacticians from their shenanigans.
We don't have cavalry for the frontal attack, though...

Meanwhile, we were further expanding and improving our Food System that was briefly introduced here.

Food is CRUCIAL for our survival. Your soldiers and villagers need to eat, and if they don't, they will go insane and may leave You. To make food gathering spicier, we are introducing Seasons.

It is possible to store food inside Warehouse.

Farms are a great source of food. It's not working during Winter.

Hunters are not a stable source of food. It's hit or miss but works for all seasons.

We can have fishing boats as well that will not work in Winter, but the model is not ready yet :) It will be possible to trade other resources for food on Marketplace.

There will be various weather conditions as well. It's still yet to be decided how they will affect the gameplay. IF we choose to reduce Human units FOV during rain, those guys will certainly use it to their advantage.

From the military point of view. We are currently working on basic AI in the game. We are also implemented Barracks and Blacksmith.
Good ol' Barracks. Allows for basic recruitment.

The blacksmith will improve our Fortress and Army in various ways.
