the combat, which is the real selling point (aside from the dungeon creator and user created campaigns), is pretty awesome if you like the 5th edition D&D rule set. more strict implementation than BG3

TL;DR: only buy it if you're starved for tactical RPG content and adherence to the d20 SRD is a selling point for you.

It's exceedingly difficult to judge this game fairly right after playing 220+ hours of Baldur's Gate 3. They are not trying to be the same, but a comparison is unavoidable and Solasta isn't the prettiest dancer on stage. So that's your grain of salt.

The good:
* Cross-platform, relatively low system requirements. Runs perfectly on my Macbook Pro M1.
* They provide tools for the community to generate our own content, so the sky is the limit in that sense. I haven't looked yet to see what the community has done with the tools.
* Lots of time-saving shortcuts, for example to skip unnecessary dialog with vendors entirely.
* The map system is fully rotatable 3d which helps a lot with understanding the relationships between things on the map and things I can see. Stuff just doesn't look the same from overhead.

The bad:
* It's just not a AAA game. If you don't need big-budget models, sounds, voice acting and scripts, this won't bother you. It bothers me a little because...
* Relatively few customization options: no makeup, only one hair color at a time (no highlights, no sliders), etc. There may be more customization options that I'm not aware of since I've only created one character so far, but it doesn't matter much anyway because...
* Fourth-wall breaking poses and idle animations. PCs and NPCs stand around with their arms a little away from their sides, or crossed way high on their chests. It's easy to remember I'm playing a game. I might not judge this so harshly if Fallout/Elder Scrolls and Baldur's Gate didn't exist, but they do. But also...
* Stiff voice acting. If it turns out it's automatically generated I'll change my opinion, but it sounds amateur (sorry voice actors!) and I think it would be better off with just text.

The ugly:
So far, nothing. Steam says I'm 6 hours in. Maybe I'll update this review after I've experienced more of what the game has to offer, such as its DLCs.

Baldur Gates 3 from Temu

I completed a campaign run in 46 hours. I'm recommending the game in the sense that it was an ok investment of time for the money I spent. Would I play it again for achievements? No - it is boring.

My take on features:

+ it is a good transfer of the 2014 dnd SRD rules, so a good intro if you consider to play pen and paper dnd
+ i kinda liked the voice overs, despite options being limited
+ mechanics are relatively well implemented in the 3d space

- graphics are mediocre, especially on the character visuals - the maps/areas are decent
- the areas of the game are not that many - in order to progress in levels you need to go back in areas already visited i.e. there is much re-used content - this was a major turn off for me
- going from one area to another needs traveling time - would be ok if it wasn't spent in a boring and slow execution way
- most of the game options that have been implemented on top of the SRD (i.e. feats and subclasses) are not that interesting - there are a few additional spells as well which are not that impactful to prepare
- the main story is linear and mostly boring - the character stories are based on their background - boring as well
- inventory management is horrible
- crafting is boring and the crafting interface is not intuitive - if you don't craft anything most probably you'll be fine and you'll get your inventory clamped with useless stuff
- enemies are repeated over and over again
- activity/action sequencing in the game is a bit staggered - overall moving around is a bit slow

Classic and sucked in from the start.

DO NOT BUY THIS GAME! It has a game breaking bug that completely ruins the game. Sometimes the enemy will take their turn and the game will not progress with the rest of the battle and will just stay there doing nothing. This is called the Infinite Pandoran Loop which was an issue 3 years ago and still going on now... I just bought this game and it was fun till this happen every fight where I have to reload and when I tried searching for a fix, there are none and the developers still could not fix it after 3 years?? I never played a game by Tactical Adventures, and I for sure, never will again.

Not recommended for the Mac due to very poor optimisation. I mean, come on guys, either do a good port, or just stick to PC. This feels like a ripoff.

This to me is one of the most amazing games, not because its a great story but because its a base game and allows fan based DLC and mods. This game, I expect will take me to 1000 hrs. Advice is to play the game through then reaserch mods and fan DLC.

Great little game that you can tell was made with love. Heavy emphasis on combat, which is VERY faithful to 5e, and introduces their own homebrow subclasses into the mix. I very much appreciate the in depth options menu, which allows you to bump the difficulty up to absolutely insane levels or make it a complete walk in the park, or add QOL increases like being disabling random encounters or always succeeding on crafting checks.

There's also a community mod which expands the options even further, introducing tons of new races, subclasses, spells, etc, adding new options like the new 5.5e ruleset, multiclassing, options for house rules like flanking or crunchy crits, etc. Tons of options to create really good builds
