Smart Sniper
is it just the smart sniper needing lock on or are all snipers this bad? ill have the cross hairs dead on the forehead from about 10 yards away only for it to veer off by about 7 inches...
so do all guns just have massive deviation or just the smart one?

Some enemies are resistant to smart weapons; a handful of tyger claws comes to mind. If you quickhack cyberware malfunction on them it should work.

Other than that, make sure you have the smartlink cyberware installed as mentioned above, and let the crosshair lock before firing I guess.
ok so it IS the smart gun, so normal snipers will not be like this?

No, normal snipers do not do this. They will hit where you point.

Smart weapons track targets by adjusting bullet trajectory. It's a lazy and fun way to kill stuff.

I was not impressed by the smart sniper rifle. I thought it guarantees headshots, but it misses too often to be of any real use. Skippy and the G-58 Dian are the really good smart guns.
Personally I think Skippy is a bit weak. I find Kappa x-MOD2 to be a better choice. And the iconic variant of the Dian (Yinglong) is always the better choice. The Pizdets is a very nice smart SMG as well; the magazine is a bit small but it's silenced (!) and very deadly.

If you want the heavy stuff, you can't go wrong with the Hercules 3AX - and you don't even need the smartlink cyberware installed.

The Ashura sniper just doesn't work very well in the early game. You have to mod it, spend Perks that increase its reliability, and you have to _wait_ for a complete target-lock. As mentioned, some enemies are resistant to Smart weapon-lock. This is true of all Smart weapons, to some degree. The game doesn't make it easy for you.
well its the only sniper i got T-T and its got no mod slots .....

All of the smart weapons are a bit jank when it comes to landing the shots, it is just waaaaaay more noticeable on the Ashura since it is one shot at a time and you are laser focused on what is happening with that shot. Even against enemies without the smart weapon jamming or whatever, smart weapons are not reliable.

What level of the game are you at? You don't get the best weapons early in the game. Eventually you'll get a crafting pattern for the Ashura and it will have mod slots, assuming it's Tier 3 or above.
ohh im under level 10, just got lucky and found it in some warehouse, had to drop thru the roof and was locked in till i spent a point to hack it XD
While there are better conventional sniper rifles in the game, I enjoyed using the smart sniper rifle "Ashura" more than any other the others. It's powerful enough to take out most foes with one headshot. A lot of fun to use from distance.
follow up question on the smart sniper dose ti count as netruner or headhunter?
