NBA 2K20 Server Sunset Notification (December 31, 2021)

As all good things must come to an end, NBA 2K20's servers will be discontinued as of December 31, 2021.

Players will no longer be able to play ranked or online league games. Accordingly, any mode that earns or uses VC will be affected, along with any other online function (such as the MyTEAM mode and online matches against other players).

As of January 1st, 2022 this game will no longer be available for purchase. Players who already own it will still be able to redownload and play offline modes, of course.

The simple answer was summed up well here including a way to get a similar experience offline (edited slightly for spelling and to remove subjectivity)...

Sorry bro. Servers offline forever. No way to access MyCareer anymore. Up to 2k19 there was an offline MyCareer option but in 20 they took it out. It was also very limited meaning no accessories, animations, tattoos or any of that stuff.

All you can do is buy 21/22 or use playerlock in MyLeague.

Sooo how will this affect people trying to buy a nba franchise in myGM, because if we're unable to fully enjoy the game even in XP mode then you removed a key aspect from mycareer and MyGM mode.

I'd suggest launching the game while completely offline sooner rather than later to see what the repercussions, if any, are for MyGM.

I didn't, I don't work for 2K. Besides, the offline career hasn't been a thing for years now.

EDIT: Turns out I misremembered the situation and this is the first time the game doesn't have offline career. I checked for it when the game came out and expected this to happen.

I am fine with you shutdown the sever, I know how expensive it is.
BUT!!!!!!!! Why not allow us to ACCESS MyTeam mode (not play, but access)? The only thing I want to do is to take a screen shot of my best team. Now you just forbid us from doing it? Not even mention MC mode. Cannot even see the player I created. What a waste...
I guess that's goodbye 2k, I will not spend a penny on you anymore.
