Project Zomboid

1600+ hours but tired of playing a slideshow (need optimization PLS)
i love PZ more than i can say and i am generally full support for devs taking their time to release quality things instead of rushing them out. i will always admire TIS's dedication to what they do!!
...buuuut at this rate, i really feel like we need an optimization update like... yesterday. yesteryear. i don't need the full B42 update with all the bells and whistles. i'm just tired of EVERY time i explore a new area that has a slightly large building, my game turns into a powerpoint slideshow. admittedly i'm a potato PC gamer but i don't have the money to casually drop on an expensive PC, and i've heard a lot of people have FPS issues regardless (the fact one of the most subscribed mods is a FPS fix is kind of telling). issues like this are really a shame because i end up intentionally avoiding larger spaces, just so that my 4-month character doesn't get game-ended from immense lag. and that means that there are a lot of spaces of the map, or mod maps, that i just can't enjoy despite the time ppl have taken to craft them

i'm just begging,,, i really don't immediately need animals, or NPCS, or extra fun lore things - i just want a optimization update,,,,.. and i feel a little frustrated and confused that we've all payed to play early access but the team is still having closed early access testing (?)

"initial testing has been positive" then let me play it pleez i'm begging !!!!! T_T Blease (TM)

Afaik, the lighting/light rendering system would be changed along with some other things related to world rendering around the player, and there'd be more optimization in B42 as well. They'll just have to optimize the game anyway becaue of 20-30-storey buildings that'd be present in B42 (in Louisville, I suppose)

Who cares about optimization when you are already playing on a toaster. :D

But seriously, further optimization would be great. I want to try doing max population challenge, but I can't do it because my machine can't deal with it.

Jk but not really, PZ is the only game even NASA pcs would start being an old film with fps having hordes
Make sure you don't have 800 bullets or cigarettes in your fannypack, backpack. -> causes fps drop issues.
New Egg has some pc on sale for black friday right now. go get a pc bro. If money is tight, you can always pay monthly for a PC.
Remove a bunch of mods, that is the #1 cause of performance issues (not counting your potato). Just adding Britas Guns mod causes a 4-6 fps drop in Louisville. Add car mods, ui mods and other mods only makes it worse. Using any NPC mod is a massive killer in performance.
I mean... get a better machine or turn down your settings to potato level, because your rig ain't the one, guy.

Out of curiosity, would you share the details of your computer spec?

How do you play? i assume you turn everything down, uninstall mods and play windowed mode with a very small resolution, right?

Dwarf Fortress can also get there. It can force a PC to make frame by frame calculations of the dampness level of every finger joint of every digit of every creature on the map, in addition to all the other stuff going on. And it's all dumped onto the PCU.
