Crawling zombies suck
im extremely careful around them especially already yet still often ill find they scratch me because an attack directly on them just doesnt register or they scratch me when facing away attacking away from me and trip me.
Theyre way too buggy to hit. just now i was in the best run ive had so far on high pop and after clearing majority of northern muldraugh, i got bit by a single crawling zombie that wouldnt get hit by my attack and then still managed to hit me after i had already run past it and was behind its legs.
this kinda kills the game cuz itll keep happening as an occasional thing and its not really predictable when or when not a zombie will not get hit, and i had no other direction i couldve gone after attacking because it wouldve been too slow but running over should make bites not occur at the least :I also i thought it was occurring only when zombies overlap and have avoided it fine except for when overlaps happen but this time it happened on a single one with my cursor aimed on them while attacking and hit right on them
i feel like my file and effort was taken unfairly and itd at least be nice to have a simple autobackup feature for times like this.
and ive already played around 100+ hours and i know thats not wild or anything but the game definitely shouldnt have buggy enough ground attacks that in 100 hours and thousands of zombies i still dont have a good clue on how to keep the bug fully under control unless playing as slow and careful as possible all the time which can become boring especially when most of the time things work fine and youll only occasionally have stupid ♥♥♥♥ like this happen

Longer range weapon.
Crawlers are the hardest enemy in game.
Some angles its trickier to hit them, sometimes you can stomp and its finished quickly.
The rakes and stuff are good at it. Lacross Stick, alternative long blunts tend to do the trick i cannot say i have missed a crawler going for my feet, using Wooden Mallet either. but i do miss them a bunch of times with regular stomp and other weapons.

If u can get it in the body from an angle away from its head. Then u can pacify it and get control over it. Problem is when its facing you. And it does have a turn rate. but its facing you and other zombies occupy you and it just gets closer and closer.

I have never had a crawler scratch or bite me, nor have I had any issues just stomping them out. Turn on aim outline for melee, I feel like you are just getting your spacing wrong if you are having issues connecting with them. Issues with crawlers is simply a spacing thing. Once you figure it out they stop being an issue.

i did use a longish range weapon(crowbar) and was standing over it there was only two other zombies nearby and they didnt hit me it was just the crawler biting me as i just couldnt hit it. i never have problems stomping much either but with weapons ive had this happen while trying to hit heads and one body causing the other body to get missed but this obviously wasnt that. i think this level of difficulty is fine as long as its actually realistic and able to be shown properly in the game, it feels less like simple difficulty when clear hits just do nothing at times or you can be hit by a crawler behind its feet etc, these things just dont make sense logically unless you know the game has problems like that and act carefully around it which can be boring. i cleared a lot of crawlers clearing out hordes prior to the death all being careful and slow to challenge one on one because of how easily they grab and such but getting bitten while behind a zombie after having your weapon do nothing to them and losing your file from it sucks ass and isnt intuitive or fun id like to see hitboxes and such improve its a shame

i have aim outline on ive used it the whole time ive played the zombie was outlined and i was on top of them :I
and youve never been scratched or bit by one at all?? thats unlikely as hell
i wasnt trying to space for a head kill i was just attacking its body very simply and easily it was not a very hard hit
i also use joggers and ive probably died to crawlers just slightly more because of moments where i get hit by one that didnt look close at all and i get tripped altho that happens less now

Yah theyre pretty ♥♥♥♥♥ and deadly, been tagged by a couple and i just avoid them like fire now, if there is a group of zombies and one is a crawler I tend to run away to a fence or something lol and let the others catch up to me first and take those little floor waffles out last.

I've experienced buggy situations where character misses and shouldn't miss at all so I understand that frustration. Shoot them. Get comfortable with a pistol if you've been avoiding that.

You should use manual ground attack and not rely on the auto targeting the game offers.
Nordil(Hun) 12 Nov, 2024 @ 12:02pm
The only reason i sometimes have spears. Crawling zombies.

i would argue crawlers are some of the coolest zombies in gang
when its like gyaaargh gyraaaaacghhh gyraaaaouuahh lol
then its like animating and its grabbing your feet lol
what is this? and then bam BITE its crawling around under the car aswell
and destroying the invinsible home defence. Its the perfect enemy.
but for real we all die these ways. And it can be difficult to accept.
I would hate to see them nerfed in all hoensty.

They are only 20% slower than walkers lol
Animalman 12 Nov, 2024 @ 12:59pm
for real tho aswel only a few wild crawlers ever spawn
and if you are fighting in a condition that produces crawlers it indicates you were fighting while exhausted and were doing less than intended weapon damage. because normally in a normal fight you don't normally produce a lot of them. only when performance of character is sub-par or at the end of a long fight. Perhaps aiming was low or panic aswell.

How is it unlikely? Crawlers are super slow and easy to just... kill. How is that so unbelievable lol.

I believe with default settings you just hold left alt when you attack. Makes killing things on the ground way more fluid. You can juggle push and stomp on a small group with the right rhythm.
