Fast reader is useless in single player tbh, unless you have a reason why you want to speed read skill books.
It saves time. Time is important, especially early on.
If you want to go for short blades burger flipper is ideal and short blades are pretty good as weapons if used correctly. To utilize them fully you want to play as a low fitness character and that would give you plenty of points to spend elsewhere. No idea why you would ever pick hunter, just as pointless as fast reader.
Although idea of a low fitness character with a weapon that consumes barely any stamina is alluring.
The jaw stab cannot happen if there are zombies nearby. (A check or something similar has been added to prevent you becoming stun locked with the jaw stab animation and thus being taken down, like about 2 years ago?)
Also regarding short blade the most important thing is to never have your fighting speed reduced below 90%. If you do and fight for an excessive time and you get hot, the further loss of fighting speed(because of being hot) is barely noticeable but can lead to your characters death.(Because of the shorter reach the speed is very important)

Sneaky-beeky is crap strategy. it's one way to suicide I guess. Way better to either kill all or bait them to another part of the map. That's why I consider conspicuous as free points.
It gives +10% or so to loot. So if you happen to get into a place where you have a chance to find one then you have better chances, but that is really it. (Lucky is actually better for foodstuff looting i would say.)
Also short blade is one of the harder skills to master. But once you do, you can literally fight without taking any breaks cuz of being exhausted.
One time i fought the whole night zombies in the storage lock area south of Rosewood, because the chopper came at the wrong time. I used up all my coffee and all my vitamins and about 5 hunting knives, but killed over 250 zombies.
If you hit level 5 or 6 with short blades you will be offing zombies with around 3 stabs. It can become one of those serious mob thinner weapons if you know what you are doing.
Got very Lucky and found full military outfit, colt 1911 and a hunting knife. All in a first day, in a fricking trailer park!
