Ok I found a weird fix and am going to keep it here in case people with similar issues come across this post:

I wanted to get other programs to work and needed OpenGL support for those. Since AMD ceased support for that a while ago I switched to older drivers. And now the issue is gone.

searching the discussion page as well as google did not help me fix my issue so I am hoping someone else can help me out here.

The game has an issue of sending a constant "down" input (I can in theory hardcore mash against it but that would make playing the game really straining). However it is only active during specific parts of the game. The main menu is fine, going into sub-menus (such as options) has that issue. Being in the game makes the character run downwards constantly, however the in-game menus are fine.

So far I have not found a fix for this.
- I tried installing + playing the game without any controller (or keyboard) being plugged in (not having anything plugged in still results in inputs being send).
- I tried a keybind overwrite program.
- I tested entirely new hardware.
- I did test on Version 1.1.
- I also bought the GOG version and started it without Steam being on.

Nothing has helped me and I am at a loss for options. I can only suspect the game having an issue with components of my computer (I am on AMD Radeon if that is of any help).

It would be awesome if someone found a fix for that as I would really like to play the game.
