How to Roll Back a Savegame
Savegames in Still There are automatically backed up in the savegames' folder.

On Windows, the location is:
%APPDATA%\..\LocalLow\GhostShark Games\Still There\Savegame

In this folder you'll find a list of savegame files, in this format:
SaveSlot0.sav
SaveSlot0.sav.backup.0
SaveSlot0.sav.backup.1
....

SaveSlot1.sav
SaveSlot1.sav.backup.0
...

The number immediately after "SaveSlot" is the number of the save slot used,
e.g. 0,1 or 2 (0 is the 1st slot). SaveSlot*.sav is the current working savegame.

If you want to roll back the 1st savegame slot, just rename SaveSlot0.sav to something else and rename SaveSlot0.sav.backup.0 (which reflects the previous time the game was saved) to SaveSlot0.sav.

Where is the Mac save game folder, and does this apply? I've lost all my game progress! I am not sure how, but it seems my cloud save was written over, and all I can do is start a new game. :cry_eol:

Hi doctorpuppet,
oh, weird, maybe you started playing the game offline and then Steam asked you to overwrite the cloud/local saves before starting the game?

on Mac the save game folder should be in
~/Library/Application Support/GhostShark Games/Still There

I hope it's not that case as the "Savegame" folder could be empty :(

Thanks for the quick reply! So, things are weird. I can see the folder you mention, and there is a “steam_autocloud.vdf” file there that updated last night (presumably when my save was written over). BUUUUUT when I look in Time Machine, that folder apparently did NOT exist before (when the game was actually saving). I understand your theory, but I’ve been unlocking achievements, so I don’t think I could have been (accidentally) playing offline? It is a real mystery! Is there a log file or something I could send you, maybe? This seems so weird! Could it have anything to do with the recent Steam client update?

Oh, PS! While looking for some kind of explanation, I found out how to see the contents of your Steam Cloud, and there is nothing there for Still There! :SparrowsonClose:

Is there anywhere else it possibly could have been saving locally?

Unfortunately, I cannot check a log, because the game actually saves only locally,
in ~/Library/Application Support/GhostShark Games/Still There/Savegame
It doesn't use Steam APIs to save stuff remotely.

The Steam client automatically (autocloud) syncs that folder outside the execution of the game, when it's closed.

It's weird, it never happened before, maybe the disk was completely full?
If you tell me at which point you left before losing progress, I can provide you a savegame.
Anyway, it still doesn't create savegame files even if you create a new game?

I’ll try creating a new save tomorrow! My hard drive is definitely not full. It’s all so weird!

Yeah a savegame would be great! Can I email you or something? I don’t want to post my personal address here!

Sure! support AT ghostshark DOT it, or just add me as Steam friend.
