Honest Demo Feedback - Lovely atmosphere, but dull gameplay
Sorry to put it so bluntly, but it's true. I played the demo on stream at the urging of some mates. And while the Pixel art is delightful and cityscape wonderful. The actual gameplay was a slog. I've played a million indie games like it and I basically disengaged throughout the whole demo. Even having finished it, I struggle to think of any selling point or hook for the game on the gameplay side. The only appeal really was the art. It's not challenging enough to be satisfying to clear, not complex enough to be rewarding to master, not obscure enough to be a puzzle to solve. It's just... another zelda-like. Even the reduce enemies to exactly zero wasn't much of a puzzle, given your starting attacks are 2 and 3 damage.

If you tune the final games difficulty high as hell, add some more puzzles and interesting mechanics, or even just cull the gameplay and turn it into more of a walking simulator, all would give it more appeal in my mind. It just needs something on the gameplay side, even if that something is less gameplay overall, when at the moment it has nothing.

While you're allowed to have an opinion, you're also allowed to be entirely, absolutely, and completely wrong. XD

The difficulty is plenty hard already, not every game needs to be a souls-like. The combat and visuals for said combat are everything I've ever wanted in a game set in an atmospheric dystopian world like this. Don't take it from me.

This may be because its been in development for so long, many games have come and passed that play similarly.
I agree, couldn't bring myself to finish the demo because I got bored.
Such a shame since the visuals are really pretty.

I certainly agree on the difficulty, i actually enjoyed the gameplay loop, but there was no real sense of difficulty/progression, and the upgrades felt like they got too far too quickly
