After installing ORION: Prelude I would click "Start Game" and it would briefly try to load (including updating my profile status to "In Game") before shutting down.

I solved the issue on my PC by installing two pieces of Microsoft software and rebooting:

• "DirectX End-User Runtime Installer" from Microsoft's website which installs DirectX
  
• "Latest Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable Version" from the Microsoft's "learn.microsoft" website. The latest version available at the time I was troubleshooting this problem was 14.42.34433.0, so those are the ones I installed (x86 and x64).
