$10 wont hurt anyone. The ultimate really helps make it more fun. Now you don't need to buy credits to unlock stuff.
No, I'm not asking You to give your money to strangers but... come on. Think about people who earn a little or don't earn anything. I get $160 monthly and I know there are people who have even less and we are not able to pay such a big money for DLC. Think about such people. I know indie developers usually have too little money to make their games even better and to live a life with those money but releasing such a thing is not a good thing... Imagine every game had such a paid DLC and we would need to pay twice for everything.
PS. I am sorry for being so negative but I was really hoping there will never be a DLC from such a nice developer, especially such an expensive one.
If you think this is expensive from Trek, look at their other major product right now, Guardians of Orion: DLC packages from $25 and $100 for an in-game store discount (only in-game currency discount, not actual money discount), a handful of exclusive skins easily supplemented with things you can unlock just by playing the game, and a crate system that helps unlock yet more skins that have no effect on stats or performance. By comparison, the game itself costs (soon-to-be) $10.
To spell it out, the DLC that provides maybe 1/100th worth of new content compared to base game, is 10x as expensive as the game itself. Only a philanthropist, or a very stupid person, would waste their money on such a thing. THIS is the developer we're talking about.
