FAQ
At what time will 1.0 release?

Dreamscaper 1.0 releases on August 5th at 6AM PDT / 9AM EDT / 3PM CEST.

Will there be co-op or multiplayer?

We have no plans for either of those features. If the game exceeds commercial expectation, then we're open to the idea of exploring features like multiplayer or modding. However, right now the team has only one Engineer (Rob) and so our focus is on a solid single player game.

Will there be a Nintendo Switch release?

Yes. Dreamscaper 1.0 also releases on Nintendo Switch on August 5th.

Will the game be available on GOG/Epic etc?

Dreamscaper 1.0 will be available on Steam & Epic Game Store on August 5th.

How much will the game cost?

Dreamscaper 1.0 will have a base price of $25 USD but we will be running a substantial launch discount.

How many levels will there be?

Dreamscaper 1.0 will have 6 unique biomes that can generate countless unique levels.

How many bosses will there be?

Dreamscaper 1.0 will have 6 challenging bosses.

Will there be more languages added?

Yes. We are adding German, French, Spanish, Italian, Japanese & Korean to the existing English & Simplified Chinese translations on August 5th.

How do you save the game?

While Dreamscaper is a roguelite with permadeath, there is quite a lot of progress that persists. All Waking World progress gets saved automatically and Dream World progress such as collected crafting resources, defeated bosses and discovered memories get saved automatically as well.

You are also able to save your current run's progress by exiting while in the Waking World. You can then pick up where you left off (including your entire inventory) by going to sleep.

Will the game have Steam achievements?

Yes. There will be 45 Steam achievements in Dreamscaper 1.0.

Why can't I open the game?

There are several reasons why this might be happening. The first thing we always suggest is to update your graphics drivers. We've seen this resolve most of the issues. Another less common cause is that the game does not have permission to write files out to disk, so running the game as Admin will sometime fix that. Other causes involve not having enough disk space, not enough RAM to install the game, using an incompatible and older version of Windows, or external applications like virus detection software blocking the game from running. If you still experience a crash ("Fatal Error" displayed) at load after updating your drivers, you can always join our Discord[discord.gg] and we can try to track down the cause of the crash.

How do I fix "D3D Device Lost" crashes?

This is a fairly common problem for certain configurations and UE4 games. While there's nothing we can do on the game side to resolve this, there are many things you can try to fix it for your own configuration outlined here:

https://appuals.com/how-to-fix-the-error-unreal-engine-is-exiting-due-to-d3d-device-being-lost/

I'm still experiencing crashes after updating my GPU drivers. Is there anything else I can try?

One possible culprit for frequent crashes is that Dreamscaper might be installed on an external hard drive, which is not gracefully handled at this time. We suggest trying to move the game installation to your default internal hard drive (probably C).

Why do I experience hitching?

Our game uses Unreal Engine 4 which (on a rare occasion) can have compatibility issues with some older NVIDIA and AMD drivers. We found, throughout Early Access, most performance issues could be resolved by simply updating your GPU drivers. We've also found that certain other applications don't play nicely with our engine so closing background tasks / browsers etc. can help. If that does not resolve your problems, be sure to join our Discord[discord.gg] and we are happy to help troubleshoot.

Why is my mouse not registering in the right location?

This is usually caused when the game is put into fullscreen mode in an aspect ratio your computer doesn't support. It is often fixed by changing the resolution to a different aspect ratio or by changing the window mode to Fullscreen, Windowed or Fullscreen Windowed. If that doesn't resolve your problems, be sure to join our Discord[discord.gg] for additional support.
