I'll see about fixing this in a future update with either an invisible block or a push zone like you said. I would just need to implement those first.
For future reference though, it is possible to reset your shot by pressing "R" on the keyboard, or left on the D-pad if you are using a controller. This feature isn't shown anywhere except for the controls menu so it's understandable how you wouldn't know about it.
