2025, get on the game and record yourself getting first place on classic difficulty.
I had to do it maybe about 10 times before I finished it, and most of the time I was able to get to first place within the first lap, and maintain it throughout the second lap... but the third lap? Something would go wrong inevitably. I'd spin out, or not make a turn, or flip the car trying to take a shortcut, or whatever. And as soon as I did, EVERY OTHER RACER tore past me like the game had just teleported them in.
I don't doubt this was hard on the original version too, but this specific instance? Unbelievably shoddily designed, the rubberbanding was a mistake and never should've been considered. It completely breaks the race. I really hate to say it but the only way of beating the race is to just keep trying until you get it. I say again, I had to do it maybe 10 times, and the final time I did it (when I won), I just grit my teeth, narrowed my eyes, and focused 110% on winning. No tricky shortcuts, no risky moves, just pouring on speed on the straights, slowing on turns, etc... and even then, I only NARROWLY won.
I hope you lose your next 10 street fighter versus matches in a row.
