For anyone else wondering you have to turn on xbox controller configuration.

If anyone finds this thread, we figured it out. You need to use remote play then connect one controller to each PC. Configure each controllers in the remote play setting and assign them each to player 1 and 2. It's stupid.

I dont understand. it doesnt do this automatically?

I just bought it and for me it is working pretty good. By the main menu you have to make sure both controllers are working and recognized before entering the actual game. No lag or anything even though I am streaming my game :)

I found a solution and I'm sharing it with you in case it works for you.
Disable Steam Input. When you do this, the game recognizes player number 2. That worked for me.
