Added new Quality Mode (40 FPS) on consoles (requires a 120Hz monitor and the output of the console set to 120 Hz)
Improved performance and stability on Steam Deck
Updated the "Hide HUD" feature:
- When Hide HUD option is enabled, damage numbers, enemy health bar and enemy names are hidden
- During combat, crosshair, "Quick use items" and "Weapons ammo" are still shown, also with Hide HUD enabled
- When Hide HUD option is enabled, several other UI elements are now hidden during various gameplay segments (Orym trail plants, glide for seed plant, items on the ground)
Improved support for Super Wide monitors (32:9) by fixing various scaling issues
Implemented reverse Camera Up/Down in Tower of Reality

Fixed a bug that disabled music after the start of a cutscene

This patch brings a lot of fixes following bugs reported by players, whom we’d like to thank.

New Features

“Hide HUD”: Players can now select the option “Hide HUD” from the Game Settings, removing all interface elements from the screen for a more immersive experience. Note that with this option enabled, the HUD will briefly appear while using the scanner and partially (life and shield gauges) during combat gameplay.

Quality of Life Improvements and Optimization

Skill Tree: adapted the font size and the skill costs to make it more readable.
Improved performance in Tower of Reality significantly.
Ultra Graphic Mode: improved shadow quality.

Bugs Fixed

Fixed several crashes happening while using Oru’s Gun on the PS5.
Fixed several crashes on console saves.
Fixed several crashes related to dialogs and missions (all Platforms).
Fixed Anatok’s Diaries - all 33 Anatok’s Diaries can now be collected.
Removed Quality/Performance selection mode on Xbox Series S.
Fixed various environment issues.
Fixed NPC being stuck inside walls or the ground.
Fixed various localization issues including as-recs, non-localized voice-overs, facial animations, and overflowing texts.
Fixed various dialog issues (context and logic).
Fixed a bug where saves were getting corrupted.
Fixed auto-save issues - the game auto-saves more regularly and auto-saves triggered by dialogs launching missions always happen.
Fixed various Game Credits issues including a bug preventing specific entries from displaying in the end game credits, missing contributors, and typos.
Fixed status update of Base SAN-1S - the status is updated to “done” when all the chests are open.
Fixed several Gork Eruptions creatures spawning points position.
Fixed the achievement “The things you own end up owning you” - the achievement will unlock without having to unequip the modules from the weapons.
Fixed the achievement “Kitchen Nightmare” - launching the game will unlock the achievement if all the recipes have already been purchased.
Fixed the achievement “You want fear? I’m the fear” - launching the game will unlock the achievement if all 30 Outposts have been neutralized.
Fixed a bug when restarting side activities or instantiated missions during the loading fade-out.
Fixed dialog camera (Zaleb in Sappa).
Fixed Bases guidance status - the relevant information now displays when hovering on Bases in the Quest Map.
Fixed keyboard mapping - players no longer need to restart the game to have their mapping applied.
Fixed soft-lock issue during the “Find the Artifact” mission.

The Nom-Nom race controls have been simplified. You can now steer Nom-Noms easily with your controller or WASD on PC.

What date and time does the game release? Is the release simultaneous across all time zones?
The game will be released on 15 March 2024, at 15:00 CET/ 10:00 EDT/ 07:00 PDT. Release is simultaneous worldwide.
Which platforms will the game release on?
PC (Steam and GOG), PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S|X
Are there plans for release on additional platforms, e.g. Epic Games, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, GeForce Now, Gamepass, Mac, Linux, etc.?
There are no plans for release on other platforms at this moment.

In addition to the above, the game offers adjustments for deuteranopia, protanopia and tritanopia, as well as the option to adjust brightness and contrast.
Will we be able to adjust camera/FOV?
Yes. Camera inversion and FOV settings can be found in the in-game pause menu, both in the main game and in the demo version.
Are the controls customizable?
Yes for keyboard and mouse. No for controller.
Are there any plans to support PlayStation controller layouts or will all buttons be displayed as Xbox buttons?
This is currently not planned.
Will the game have advanced graphics options on PC such as DLSS, FrameGen and FSR?
The game supports DLSS, but not FrameGen and FSR.
Does the game support ultrawide resolutions?
Yes.
Will the game let us choose between performance and quality mode on consoles?
This is currently still being worked on.
Will we have the option to disable HUD elements for a fully immersive experience?
Not at launch. We are looking into it, though.

Content questions

Is this game a sequel? Do I need to have played the first game to understand this one?
Yes, it is a sequel, but while knowledge of the story of the first game is helpful, it is not required.
Does this game reboot/retcon existing lore?
We have taken great care to stick as close to the existing lore as possible. All major events of the first game are canon within this one.
Does the game have vehicles? Can we ride twon-has again?
No to vehicles and twon-ha riding. But there is a creature you can fly on. ;)
Does the game have character customization (outfits, helmets, different armor pieces, etc).
No.
Are there melee weapons apart from the shield?
No.
Is there a personal protagonist orbital ship hub/house or underwater hub/house?
No.
Will there be a photo mode?
Not at launch, but we’re looking into adding it post launch.
Is the game world open or following a strict story structure?
Everybody’s journey through Adelpha starts and ends in the same place, but between that, you have lots of freedom in which parts of the world/story you want to tackle next.
Why do the Talans look and sound so much more human than in the first game? What was the reason behind that choice?
This is mostly due to the progress in terms of facial animations and fidelity. Back then, the Talans didn’t have many details and very heavy voice-processing. When we made A New Beginning, we sat down to look at the original content and decided to re-evaluate certain design choices. While the original Talan designs were intriguing and unique, we decided to update them to a more detailed, more colorful and expressive version, similar to the update to Adelpha’s environments.
Why did you change Cutter’s look and voice so much? He looks and sounds nothing like the original!
That’s mostly due to the evolution of Cutter as a character. In “A New Beginning”, Cutter is more matured. He is the father of a child and goes through a different character arc. Therefore, the writing, character model and voice performance changed accordingly.
What exactly is included in the demo version?
The demo version consists of three segments:
- Combat: clear one base using a preset number of weapons/upgrades, no time limit
- Exploration: explore the world of Adelpha and its side quests, 20 minutes per access
- Story: storyline of the village Sappa, 20 minutes per access (time pauses in dialogues)
How long is the game?
If you rush through the main story, approximately 30 hours, but much more if you explore and do side quests.
