Test Build, Requests, and Bug Tracker
This thread tracks what's going on with the current test build, requests I took and bugs I plan to hunt down.

What's in the next build
  • Added Shogunate Guard Calvary (Requires Warhorse Stables)
  • Increased land units' accuracy.

Pending Requests

    Confirmed Bugs
    • Autoresolve calculation is too pessimetic for naval units.
    • Autoresolve calculation is still not quite right for land units.
    • Bow units are using gunpowerder audio instead of arrow audio file.
      This is a vanilla bug. See the "I can't get this to work" thread for the workaround.

    Unconfirmed Bugs

      Rejected Ideas
      • Have alternative ammo type for gatling.
        (Somehow the ability seems to be erratic, switched off randomly even though it remains activated. Seems to only affect gatling guns. Something only CA devs can fix.)
      • Release more mods seperated by factions.
        (Maintainence issues and overloading steam workshop browser with junk.)

      I remember a great mod that added 2 Onna Bushi (American Carbine Skirmisher and Yahri units) to a clan. Just having access to such stuff, (30-60 models in a unit wont break a game, but still give you options and enable you to play around with your tactics) PLUS, flavor. (FotS)

      Then aswell, what about buildings? How is that sounding in terms of being realistic? Some of the industrial buildings perhaps :)

      The first request seems reasonable. I'll examine it in more detail.

      The second one is problematic. That was my first thought when I decided to do this mod. However, there's no way for me to add faction-exclusive buildings. In addition, the building slots for vanilla campaign won't work for FotS buildings. BUT there might be a way around it. It will have to wait until I've finished all other small stuff though. It will be a major change.

      - Request - Hello,can you maybe add Tosa Riflemen ? They look much better than the Sharpshooters since they have more modern uniforms and rifles - They also have a more Imperial look

      Yeah that's an interesting unit. I think we need a unit which can use repeating rifles. Your request is now in pending queue. =)

      After playing some campaigns to their later stages I'd like to request a modification of the campaign AI if possible. (tried on hard and very hard, legendary is afaik like vh. with camera restrictions, correct me if I am wrong please)

      What I experienced was that the AI will always run away from you, even if they had 4 armies and I had not even one full army (basically from 6-8 modern units upwards).

      This is of course because the AI does the numbers and understands it cannot win, but that has two negative effects. First, the AI most likely could have won a battle in large numbers vs. you, especially with much cavalry. I'd even go as far as to say it is their only chance to win anything (rush as fast as possible and engage). Secondly, because of the AIs cowardness, the player has to hunt down all the fleeing stacks one by one. That often prevents any battle on an "epic" scale because the AI disperses as much as it can.

      The only exception to that behaviour is on the AI turn, when you end your army within their territory there is a chance they will attack you with everything they got. Fun times!

      I'd like to suggest a modification to the campaign AI that tricks the AI into thinking your units are weak (maybe they would attack my castles too then) or prevents the AI from retreating. Alternatively, could you please suggest me a mod that alters the AI behaviour in the desired way and is compatible with your mod?

      Edit: Upon further observation I'd like to add that the AI is aggressive on the offense, even against strong armies in castles, but cowardly when you are on the offensive in your turn.

      I know you said something about the factions and all that, but could we get one for Shimazu at least with only a slight boost to research speed, something like 25% boost?

      An another request - What about the Shogitai ? We also need some Elite Modern Melle units, with a little buf on Charge and Melle - Ofcourse Expensive and high Upkeep, but also it should contain the Banzai skill - The unit text could be something like "Even the Old Tradtitions have a place in the New World " Just an Idea ofcourse ^^ - Since well,your mod only add modern rifles but no Elite Modern Melle unit - Also the Shogunate Guard Cav would be interesting too, French like Uniforms with an old good lance - In the end its all on you - ( Loving your mod and using it with expanded Japan mod 2.0 )

      I don't think elite modern units can do much in this era, since all modern units have leather armor while the saumrais have metal. But having another type of calvary is an interesting idea.

      The Shogitai dont even wear amours ^^'' , in fots they have an amour of 2 since they wear only kiminos - But please , give your heart a try and try to make a little buffed version of the Shogunate Guard Cav (only a little buff since they are already damm OP)
