How to pull such a trick off?
To play Mann Up for a life time with a single ticket, you will need :
Before you enter the matchmaking server search, you must own a Tour of Duty Ticket ; to stay on the server, you don't. The ticket is consumed upon mission completion, if it is still in your backpack. What does that mean for you? Well, you can essentially make the ticket disappear, in order to prevent the server from consuming your ticket. As simple as this !
To do that, you can either :
  • List your ticket for $200 on the Steam Community after right after entering the server (Why $200? Because nobody will buy it ; and if they do, you might as well buy 200 tickets)
  • Trade your ticket to an alternative Steam Account after entering the server
  • Give your ticket to a trusted friend as you're on the server
  • Delete your ticket from your backpack

BE CAREFUL THOUGH ! When you do any of these, never forget to confirm the trade / market listing through your authenticator (mobile or desktop), before finishing the mission ! If you forgot to do it by the last wave, just leave the server to save your ticket.
IMPORTANT - NO LOOT
As you may've probably guessed it, if your ticket is not consumed, the game won't give you any rewards. What's the point of using such a trick then?
  • You can practice with good players using that trick ! If you're new to mvm, and seek to improve before spending more money on the gamemode, you will get to play with players that are monetarily incentivized to play well, and plenty of people who play for the sake of enjoying the gamemode (let's be fair here, solo-queuing on boot camp is never quite what one would call "fun") !
  • You may be out of cash, and still want to play more mvm with some of your friends !
  • If you perform poorly and get kicked, you won't be punished quite as hard, since your incentive isn't the loot, as it should be enjoying the game if you'd like to use this trick on a regular basis !
Have fun !
Have fun trying out some of the harder, harsher Mann vs. Machine missions, with teammates more skilled than your average Boot Camp player ! Instead of throwing dozens of dollars to Valve for essentially nothing in return (luck-based loot, duh, of course it's not going to be profitable), you can enjoy all the fun this gamemode has to deliver for a mere $1 !

It still works, but only if you have 0 tickets in your inventory when you're in a tour.
