Client
Common solutions:

1. Check AssettoCorsa.exe, acs.exe and acs_x86.exe is not blocked/quarantined by a security software like antivirus and whatnot.
2. Check your ingame resolution (ac > Options > Video > Resolution) is same as your recommended screen or windows resolution.
3. Go to Steam\steamapps\common\assettocorsa\_CommonRedist and (re)install all packages (*.exe) you find there. If the folder is empty, you can find them in the Steam Client under Library > Tools > Steamworks Common Redistributable or seach for the following packages with your fav. search engine:
vcredist 2010 (x68 and x64)
vcredist 2012 (x68 and x64)
vcredist 2013 (x68 and x64)
dotnet 4.0
directx
and get them all from microsoft.com directly, no 3rd party sites.
If those files are missing in the folder or there is no such folder, installing, and if it is installed already uninstall and install again: Steam Client > Library > Tools > Steamworks Common Redistributables
4. Rename your Documents > "Assetto Corsa" folder to "Assetto Corsa old" and restart game.
5. Try ingame Options > General > check Force 32-bit and uncheck back if no change. If it works, you should check why the 64bit (standard) executable doesn't work though (7., 1., 3.).
6. In case the launcher doesn't start anymore and you have any mods installed, check 7. and/or you have to either move the mods to another folder, if you remember all you have installed or re/-move all folders where any mods are/might be in and do a Steam game file verification, which will download all original files again.
7. Paste (and/or check for errors) your Documents\Assetto Corsa\logs\ (log.txt;launcher.log;errors.txt) to privatebin.net (make use of the Paste Expiration: 1 week up to 1 month) and link it.

Specific solutions:

1. Launcher is transparent/unclickable after closing the driving window:

1. Workaround is to put launcher into windowed mode (F11 on keyboard).

Update (according to v1.16 changelog):
- Potential workaround for launcher losing input focus after session ends; reported after Windows 10 Fall Creators Update.

More in depth solutions:

1. Game cannot write to Assetto Corsa folder in Documents:

1. Open Documents folder in (File-) Explorer.
2. Right click on the Assetto Corsa folder and choose Properties.
3. In the new window click (INWC) on Security > Advanced.
4. INWC on Add.
5. INWC on Select a principal.
6. INWC on Advanced.
7. INWC on Search, select "Everyone" from the list below and click OK.
8. In current window click (ICWC) on OK.
9. ICWC on Full Control and make sure "Type:" is Allow and "Applies to:" is This folder, subfolders and files. Click on OK.
10. ICWC on "Replace all existing inheritable permissions on all descendants with inheritable permissions from this object" and click on OK.
11. ICWC on OK.

This is a security risk for this folder but this way you can test if it's indeed an user rights problem. If it is and files show up in it now, you have to find out who the user running ac is (taskmanager) and do 1-11 again, just on 7. you select that user name and remove user: "Everyone" from the list.
Server
Common solutions:

1. First and foremost start the server in the default configuration and make sure you can connect to it/it is stable (drive around few minutes). If problems occur, you at least can exlude misconfigured *.ini files.
2. Make sure you have the ports open (default tcp/udp 9600, tcp 8081, configured in the server_cfg.ini) in your soft-/hardware firewall and is not blocked/quarantined by a security software like antivirus and whatnot.
3. For LAN server (with no internet access) set REGISTER_TO_LOBBY=0 in server_cfg.ini.
4. The same cars listed in the entry_list.ini have to be also listed in server_cfg.ini (CARS=).
VR
More in depth solutions:

1. Oculus Rift DK2 SDE (screen door effect):

1. Lower graphic quality to lowest and turn post processing off.
2. Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\assettocorsa\cfg\oculus.ini and edit the line PIXEL_PER_DISPLAY=1.0. The maximum is 2.5, if your rig can handle around 1.8 or even 2.0 you should see an improvement in the clarity. Turning that number up to around 2.0 will bring on a twinkling effect on some surfaces ingame, the curbs being the most noticable. You can correct that by turning the AA to x4 (or higher) in the graphic settings, making the image clearer and squeezing your GPU even more.
3. While on track in the car with your DK2 on, move your mouse over to the right and in the list of apps find the "Render Stats" and activate it. You are aiming to get a steady 75/74.999 fps, anything less than will lead to motion sickness quite quickly.
4. Start turning graphic settings (quality and post processing) slowly up, while maintaining ~75 fps.

Hey sosa, seems you are using content manager, a tool I never used, to start ac. Anyway, the error:
[ReplaysExtensionSetter:19] .ctor(): Can’t get files: System.IO.DirectoryNotFoundException: Could not find a part of the path 'C:\WINDOWS\system32\Assetto Corsa\replay'.
shows that there is something wrong with the paths it (wants to) access (also games, or anything not windows-internal (so to say), usually does not get installed into the windows system32 folder - just as info).

What I would do is start ac directly and do an online race or so, without content manager, to see if everything works. If it works, maybe reinstall (the newest version of) content manager.

Hello L, can't comment on your profile so I'll write here. My guess from the logfile you uploaded is that installing, and if it is installed already uninstall and install again: Steam Client > Library > Tools > Steamworks Common Redistributables

Ok, Avast antivirus quarantined it when downloading (undone) and when launch (also undone) but the game just crashes instead of launching. Any ideas?

@iamtheaussiestig sounds to me more like an oculus (driver?/setup) problem than ac.

Has anyone had an issue where the dedicated AC server prevents the Oculus from displaying in the HMD while still mirroring to the monitor? Just set up a practice server and this happens when I try to enter the server with the server manager exe running. Hope to hear from someone that has had this issue and solved it. Cheers, AussieStig
