Hello and welcome to best Mirage Smoke Guide on the Internet.
In this guide I am going to show you all basic and advanced smokes needed to successfully play de_mirage.
You can use this guide as a database for you and your friends being a detailed basis for basic and advanced team tactics. This guide does not only contain basic, tactical and situational smokes ensuring that you know a good smoke for every situation, it also shows you the jumpthrow bind which is very useful when operating with smokes.
All these smokes apply for 64 tick servers, so be careful they may not work on 128 tick servers.
So let us get right into it!

The jumpthrow bind is a very helpful script when it comes down to throwing and hitting difficult smokes consistently.

How do I install the script?

Create new config in library:

Win+R > notepad > Paste bind > Save as "###.cfg"

Bind:

After that:
Open Launch options and type "-exec ###"
• ### - name config

Congratulations you successfully installed the jumpthrow bind.
If the bind still does not work open console and type "exec ###"

Can I modify it to my personal preferences?

Yes, you can change the key to any key you want. To edit the scipt open the cfg file with an editor and exchange the key (mouse4 in this case) with the key you want it to be binded to.

How do I use it?

The script is very easy to use. Get into position to throw the smoke then press and hold the left mouse button and press your jumpthrow bind key to jump and release the smoke at the peak of your jump.

Window, from T Spawn
This is in my opinion the hardest but also the best smoke on de_mirage. It opens up a lot of opportunities because this smoke completely disables CT window and forces the CTs to leave mid open. An open mid allowes Ts to attack bomb sites from two different directions and makes it hard for CTs to defend against five Ts simultaneously.

Execution:
To throw this smoke you need to crouch into the corner next to the bin, locate the ornament in front of the door frame. Then crouch down and walk forward and jump throw the smoke when your crosshair hits the brownish line as shown in the picture or the gameplay example below.

• good in pistol round to plant bomb
  
• very good in combination with stairs and connector / snipers' nest smoke

Connector / Snipers' Nest, from Palace Alley

Tetris Oneway, from Ramp

• tactical smoke blocking off tetris
  
• good solo oneway smoke to pick enemies
  
• enables your team to go to tetris
  
• after getting to tetris, opportunity to smoke CT and stairs from tetris

CT, from Tetris

• situational smoke to block off CT
  
• good when stuck in or already pushed out to Tetris
  
• helpful to planting the bomb

Stairs, from Tetris

• tip: locate the red dot next to the arrow when positioning

Market Oneway, from B Spot

• situational smoke blocking off market leaving a small gap to pick CTs
  
• strong in afterplant situation

Basic A take

• 3 ramp / 2 palace
  
• smokes: CT, stairs and snipers' nest / connector

Advanced A take

• 2 mid / 3 A
  
• window and short smoke for mid
  
• CT, stairs and snipers' nest / connector smoke for A

Basic B take

• 5 B
  
• smokes: bench, B spot and under balcony
  
• good in ecos to plant the bomb

Advanced B take

• 3 mid / 2 B
  
• window and connector smoke for mid
  
• arch and bench smoke for B
  
• market oneway smoke in afterplant situation

Ramp, from CT

• basic smoke to throw every round to prevent Ts from rushing

Apartments, from B Spot

Window Oneway Right, from Snipers' Nest

• situational smoke to throw when repeaking mid from snipers' nest

Window Oneway Left, from Snipers' Nest

• situational smoke to throw when stuck in snipers' nest to get out or to repeak mid

Short for Lurker, from B Short

• situational smoke to throw when lurking for enemies that are pressuring mid or to throw grenades at enemies at top mid, chair or short
