final engine... gearbox trouble.

i need a little help on this one guys.
it makes too much collisions when using 3rd.gear.
anyone got a gearbox that works better ?
it need to be pretty strong to transfer all this weight to some wheels..

2 0r 3 speed.. dont need reverse.
my theory is that the teeth for the cogwheels are 1 or 2 mm too long,or dont get to the bottom of the V shape because theyre too wide.
this makes it push the axle away.

without gearbox it runs best with weight on the crank.
a heavy iron flywheel or some big wheels.
weld it to a block.
