How to fix steam overlay and SC input issues

I have seen a lot of people having issues with the steam overlay not coming up for a lot of different games or the steam controller not functioning properly, buttons not responding at all or they perform the wrong action etc. If you are using msi afterburner or rivatuner this is the fix. I have seen quite a few people "solve" the problem by enabling custom direct3d to "on" in rivatuner, which does work on a game by game basis but is really more of a band aid solution, where this fixes it for all games. If you are having issues and not using either of these programs then it's a different problem and this fix isn't for you.

The issue is in the "global" file for rivatuner which can be located by default at C:\Program Files (x86)\RivaTuner Statistics Server\ProfileTemplates, then just find the global file, open it up with notepad and search for "InjectionDelayTriggers" by default it will say "InjectionDelayTriggers = IGO64.dll" . Change that so it says "InjectionDelayTriggers = IGO64.dll,GameOverlayRenderer64.dll" . You can just copy and paste that line over the top of the old one. Save and exit.

My experience

My steam controller was unusable initially in the majority of my games. Unable to open steam overlay to customise controls and the controls that were being detected were all wrong. Left anologue stick not moving, x button acting as a button, no trigger input etc etc. Adding this command line has resolved all issues and should be the first port of call for any old or new users having this issue that are running msi afterburner and/or rivatuner.

it works fine for me, but can you make it for Uplay and Origin games too ??? i have the same problem on other platforms :( pls pls bro can you ????

Thanks mate. Worked like a charm. The steam overlay conflict with msi afterburner was driving me nuts.
