Introduction
Hello my friends. The First question is: Why should we finish this side quest? It is all about completing the game with all achievements. If you completed the figurine book Genis earns a title by speaking with Harley and you are one step closer to the “Ball and Stick Master” achievement.
Second question: How to complete the book?
Answer: Pellets. You may notice them in your inventory before and thought they are useless. Now you have to farm them and bring them to Dirk, but first we need to get this book.

Note: The figurine Book is not the collectors Book.
Getting the Book
I always got it after firing the Mana Cannon, but it seems that you can get it just after destroying the Asgard Human Ranch.
The only thing you need to do is talking with Harley. Harley is the red haired half-elf in Asgard. He is standing in the cave below the house of Aisha and Linar. If you cannot remember them, just head to the very east of Asgard.

Preparation
The important thing in farming pellets easily is Colette's Item Thief/Item Rover tech. Therefore, we have to equip Ex Gems. You get a 100% chance of stealing Items if you combine those:

Lvl 1 - Sharp Eye
Lvl 2 - Magic
Lvl 3 - Lucky
Lvl 4 - Stat boost
Tips
Before farming the pellets here are some tips:

- Get some ingredients so you can cook while farming
- If you don't cook while farming, you can run away from the battle to make things fast
- Always start from the “Pellet” because the enemies sometimes drop better pellets you don't have to steal after
- If your teammates kill the enemies too fast, go in the strategy menu and put them on “Hold position”
- If Raine kills enemies deactivate Photon and Ray/Holy Lance
Stealing Pellets:
You can steal Pellets from Jellyfishes in the Meltokio Sewers.
Enter the Sewers through the drain and fight all rats in this room except the rat near the chest. (Somehow I meet no Jellyfish in those combats)
Leave the room to the right if you finished all and go back until you got 20 or 30 Pellets.
Jellyfish also drops Pellets and Fine Pellets.

Stealing Fine Pallets:
You can steal Fine Pellets from Giant Snails in the Temple of Earth.
Fight those two snail looking monsters while heading to the room with the cook fire.
Go back and fight those two again until you get 20 or 30 Fine Pellets.
Giant Snails drop Fine Pellets and Super Pellets.

Stealing Super Pellets:
You can steal Super Pellets from Spiked Snails in the Latheon Gorge.
Go to the bridge and fight the snail looking monster. Leave the map to the right and go back.
Do so until you got the max. amount of Super Pellets.
Spiked Snails drop Super Pellets.

Getting Rare Pellets:
If you don't have the “Million Dollars” achievement yet or got it in your current play through you can combine them. What could be easier than stealing Pellets from enemies? Right, buy them for currency you don't need anyway. After getting the one million chips just buy one Rare Pellet for 2000 Chips until you have 20 or 30.

If you already have the “Million Dollars” achievement but don't have the chips anymore you have to steal Rare Pellets. You can steal Rare Pellets from Phantom Knights in Derris-Kharlan (not the castle). Teleport from the Tower of Salvation to the first level of Derris-Kharlan and head to the right. Fight the skull monster and leave the area. In the next part you encounter two of them.
This is the place I farmed the Rare Pellets in the GC-Version, but it's really annoying because the Phantom Knight can be a rare enemy sometimes.

Edit:
I kept the casino-chips in the next play through, but I also kept the Gald via Grade Shop. Nevertheless, I still recommend getting the complete book and the Chip-Achievement in the same play through just to be sure and nothing is lost.
Crafting Figurines
After you got some Pellets go home and visit Dirk. The first time you have to talk to him, after that, you just go to the forge. By the way, you won't get all figurines in one go. The Important thing to know is that Rare Pellets alone won't become a figurine, Dirk only combines them with others.
On the other hand, Pellets, Fine Pellets and Super Pellets can't be combined with each other so don't worry. Just to make it clear, there are 6 different types of figurine.

Pellete
Fine Pellete
Super Pellete
Pellete + Rare Pellete
Fine Pellete + Rare Pellete
Super Pellete + Rare Pellete

Example:
So let's say you already have some figurines. You go to Dirk's house and the first thing you do is saving. Open the figurine book and check the number of figurines you already have. Let's say it's 124. Go to the forge and just craft one type of figurine. For example, we craft with 20 Pellets without Rare Pellets. After that, we check the book and the number now is 128. We load the save game and craft with 4 Pellets. The number now is 128 too, but we can use the Pellets now for crafting figurines with Rare Pellets. But first we save again and let Dirk craft with just 1 Pellet. Now he should say that he can't make new figurines with that. Load again because that part is only for double-checking. Now we give Dirk 16 Pellets and 16 Rare Pellets. The number in the book increases to 134. Load again, give him 6 Pellets and 6 Rare Pellets and be happy that you don't have to visit the Meltokio Sewer anymore.

Finish it
After you got all 297 Figurines, go back to Harley to get Genis title.

The Casino chips are not kept thanks to Gald in GRADE shop, it's probably the Mini Game option.

@CaRmAgE

1) The other enemy you can encounter is Sheldra, but in my playthroughs they had a chance like 10-20% and most of the time when I fled from them the Spiked Snail appeard in the next battle. Another plus is that they often come in pairs.

2) There are several ways to get rid of that, but the most easy one is to put Raine into the team.
Even if you get poisend, what doesn't happen that much either, she will cure that very fast.
I farmed the pellets in a playthrough with Exp x2, maybe the poisen is a bigger struggle if you play with normal experience

Thanks for your tips, so people who also don't like the Spiked Snail can use them. :Colette2:

From my experience, Latheon Gorge is a terrible place to farm Super Pellets, because:

1) IIRC, Spiked Snails are somewhat rare.
2) The enemies can poison you.

I much preferred getting them from Ghouls in the Gaoracchia Forest, because they have a good chance of showing up in almost every encounter (not just against skulls). I know people don't like stealing from them, because they claim stealing from them isn't consistent, but I think those same people don't realize that enemies have to stagger in order to successfully steal from them. Ghouls cannot be staggered while they're attacking, so you have to wait until the attack is finished.
