1) The other enemy you can encounter is Sheldra, but in my playthroughs they had a chance like 10-20% and most of the time when I fled from them the Spiked Snail appeard in the next battle. Another plus is that they often come in pairs.
2) There are several ways to get rid of that, but the most easy one is to put Raine into the team.
Even if you get poisend, what doesn't happen that much either, she will cure that very fast.
I farmed the pellets in a playthrough with Exp x2, maybe the poisen is a bigger struggle if you play with normal experience
Thanks for your tips, so people who also don't like the Spiked Snail can use them.
1) IIRC, Spiked Snails are somewhat rare.
2) The enemies can poison you.
I much preferred getting them from Ghouls in the Gaoracchia Forest, because they have a good chance of showing up in almost every encounter (not just against skulls). I know people don't like stealing from them, because they claim stealing from them isn't consistent, but I think those same people don't realize that enemies have to stagger in order to successfully steal from them. Ghouls cannot be staggered while they're attacking, so you have to wait until the attack is finished.
