Introduction

So, you're a crazy individual with a lot of time on your hands, and you decided to get this achievement... except you're stuck.

I know there is this other guide, but my main intention was to help you with finding combos you might have skipped, so this is basically what this guide is about.

Grinding

Nope, I can't save you from that. You still have to manually swap and insert cartridges within the game. There are 243 combos in total.

Note that you can't return to swapping cartridges after Rufus has been to the sauna, but you can load an earlier save - it's ok, your save data will still remember which combos you found previously.

Here's a spreadsheet to help you.

I have marked all original combos, as well as those which you need to proceed with the story.

All the possible simultaneous combinations for all 3 cartridges are in this table. Except it's rearranged, in case you don't like to think and prefer a more streamlined approach.
(Did you know there are many ways to arrange data? I could do this forever.)

Print it out, or load it in Paint - as if I care how you choose to vandalize my work.

A faster way to create combos?

No, you don't need to walk up to the machine 243 times. You have 3 cartridges - use them. Any cartridge slot works.

First, when you get the original cartridges, stick them one by one into a cartridge slot. That will record 3 combos. 240 more to go!

Next, you go up to the Jackalope generator.

Load cartridge 01 and 02. You can find that they have combos marked as original in the spread sheet.
Swap 01 color for colorful, unload 01, load 03. Swap colors again. That way you'll end up with 01 colorful, 02 stripes, 03 yellow (that's line #2 in the second table). Scratch out the corresponding combos in the table.
Take your cartridges and place them into a slot. There's one next to you right under the pet platform.
You'll see that all that's left now for these combos is to swap colors again making 01 stripes, 02 yellow and 03 colorful. Do that.
It took you only 3 goes to a cloning pad and 9 combos are now registered.

Proceed in the same fashion, swapping heads, skins, moods, and colors. Swap and load until you've ran out of combos on your sheet. You really only need to go up to a slot 81 times.

Congrats with your achievement!

..achievement which didn't pop up. You've done all the combos and it's still not there. You have spent two hours of your life (or even more) and now completely devastated you realize that the whole thing needs to be done all over again. Except you're wrong!

There's still hope

Let's find which combos you've missed. Since I want to make your struggle more bearable, please do as I say:

First, in game settings switch from Fullscreen to Windowed mode if you haven't yet.
In your game go up to any cartridge slot, stick any cartridge in it, and that's it don't bother Rufus anymore for now.

Second, open folder in your computer:

C:\Users\YOUR-USER-NAME\AppData\Local\Daedalic Entertainment GmbH\Deponia 4

Replace YOUR-USER-NAME with, obviously, your user name. You could also do a file search for "Deponia 4" or "messages.log" - which is the file we need. It must be in that folder. Open it with notepad or something and scroll down to the bottom of the file where you will find something like this:

Just what we needed! There's a stack of numbers and a message which says:

X/243 Wolpertinger created. Y to go!

Where X will be the number of combos you've got, and Y how many you've missed. That means you still have some grinding to do though.

Chasing down the last few

For this part it is abolutely required that you install Notepad++.

Or I'll have to explain how to do the same thing in Word and Excel, except I don't want to, thus you really don't have any choice :P Notepad++ is free, awesome and it's at the first link in Google.
At the time of writing my verison of Notepad++ is 6.9.

Let's find out exactly which combo numbers you've missed.

Go back to your messages.log (which you can now open in N++) and copy the chunk with your numbers starting with 11111 and until whatever is the last number. Make a new tab in N++ (Ctrl-N or double click the tab bar) and paste your numbers there. They all should take ONE line.
Press Enter to make the second empty line. For the sakes of your sanity and to save you some time, here's a list of ALL 243 COMBOS sorted in ascending order in the same format as the game lists them, which you should paste onto the line #2:

This is basically the same as the spread sheet above, except it's in machine speak, in numbers, absolutely unreadable, but that's not the point.
Open "Replace" dialogue (Ctrl-H). Copy-paste the following stuff into corresponding fields

Find what:
([1-3][1-3][1-3][1-3][1-3])(.+)\1

Replace with:
\2

Select "Regular expression" and check ". matches newline".

It should look like this:
Finally, find the missing numbers. What you should do is hit "Replace All" untill your finger falls off or there are no numbers left in the first line, whichever happens first. The first line should be full of leftover commas, and the second line must consist of commas and SOME numbers.

This is it. The numbers left in the second line are all you need.

Got the numbers, now what?

So, there are 5 positions for 1,2 and 3 in every combo.
Positions indicate [ body/cartridge | extremity | mood | skin | color ].
I placed the combos in exactly this order in the spreadsheet.
Notice how at the right side there is a legend which explains characters, and there are numbers 1,2,3 above it? That's what you need here. Just as body build for small is 1, medium 2, large 3 (and it goes into the first position), so is extremity for horns 1, hat 2, ears 3 (and it's position #2).

Let's say one of your numbers is 13322.

That means you take cartridge 01 (small) and upload to it: ears, smile, clown costume and colorful..mm.. color. Stick that into a slot.

Now, reload your messages.log and take a look at the message at the bottom. If your X out of 243 number has increased by 1, and there are fewer combos to find - you did it right. Scratch out this combo and move onto the next!

Congrats..?

Assuming you haven't missed anything during the previous step, the achievement should be yours. If not - repeat the whole thing starting with copying your latest chunk of combos from the log.

I must say, it took me awhile to figure out this stuff with the log. And that was after a few hours of mind-numbing click-n-swap. But still, thanks to Daedalic. It was a great thing to scratch my brains with. 10\10 would suffer again :D

Anybody have a savegame with progress (240/243 jacks for example) for this achievement? In my save i was close, but i was should reinstall windows and lost my save, so could somebody help with this thing?

Ok after reading it right I did it. Did assume that the numbering starts from the top. If anyone wants to try with savegame i am willing to give it.

Is there a bug on the linux version? I can't do the combination 11122 … Everytime I eject the cartridge it does change the combinations on its own. Anyone has this bug too?
