Things That Will Help You Get Better At CS:GO
By pro ragebaiting gogin
In this guide I will be going over literally everything that I can think of that can help you in the game Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.
Before we start this is going to be an extremely long guide (or at least I think it will be) and if you would like to not go through everything just use the little bar on the right and look for what you think are the most important things. Also if you could give me some feedback in the comments and/or give me tips on how I could improve this guide.

If anyone would like to translate this guide into their native language please message me and we will negotiate it.

Aim
The most important thing in CS:GO other then gamesense (we will get into that later) is your aim. The only way you can get better aim is by practicing and changing your DPI and Sensitivity to something you like. You should also change your crosshair to some you like. If you want to make a crosshair without using the console you can use this Crosshair Map made by crashz which I used to make my own crosshair. (If you would like me to include my crosshair leave a comment but it is personal preference and I don't really think a lot of people will like my crosshair).

The following maps are aim orientated maps that will help improve your aim.
They will also help in choosing a perfect sensitivity, alternatively you can use THIS VIDEO to help your sensitivity. Please note that I am only leaving this video and not the others from this guide because I believe that this is the most informative video. Also don't forget to subscribe to corehaven. :)

Anyway back to the maps.

1) Aim Botz
I have used this map for the past 5 months and I have found some considerable improvements with my aim from this map. I HIGHLY suggest practicing before games with this map. No matter what rank you are this helps. I'm not trying to boast my rank but I am GE and when I do use this map I see considerable improvement in my performance by using this map.

2) training_aim_csgo_fixed
Before I used "Aim Botz" I used this map to practice my aim. Just like aim botz this map will improve your aim and also has a lot of customization options. I cant even explain how much there is to customize in this map. I still recommend this map to practice on before games but because I haven't used it for a while I have no idea if there have been any considerable updates to help the map.

3) Recoil Master
I have not used this personally so I do not know if this is a great help but I thought I would add it anyway because I have seen game-play and have heard great things about it. If you could not tell it helps your recoil control. It is made by the same person who made Aim Botz so it will be high quality.

These 3 maps should help your aim and hopefully make you a better aim player.

BONUS: Training: Bot Aim - Textured
I added this because I thought of my other guides and I saw this in the map oriented section and thought I would add it. I do not have ANY experience with this map other then seeing screaM practice on the map, so I thought I would add it considering in my opinion he has the best aim (usually).
Game-Sense
I cannot really make this guide without mentioning the most important thing in CS:GO other then aim which is Game-Sense. I can't really explain how to learn game-sense other then you will get better game-sense with practice and also by advancing the ranks and playing different opponents. All of the game-modes within CS:GO will help with game-sense one way or another but other then that I can't really offer help with game-sense other then it will come with experience. The one thing I can offer is that playing against better opponents will help. For example Silvers playing Gold Novas or Novas playing Master Guardians and so on until you get to the top of the ranks.
Community Server Practice
Another way to practice which I do now rather then the maps is playing a community mod known as "Retake". Retake is what it suggests. CTs need to retake a certain site on a certain map. The Ts need to hold the site until either the bomb explodes or all CTs are eliminated. You can find these servers by going to the Main Menu > Play > Browse Community Servers > When your here you type "retake" into the "tags" tab.

Make sure you join a server that has people in it AND you do NOT have lots of ping. I know these usually are what everyone looks for but because retake is a mod lower ping helps even more. Even when you have around 90 ping it feels like 200. (From personal experience, so it may have just been the server I was playing on).

If you live in Australia the most well known server is L33T Gaming's Retake server which is not terrible but you may experience lag even though you have low ping. Even with small issues like this I do suggest playing on this server and I HIGHLY suggest playing this mod.

There are other mods that you can play that wont help your aim but it may help your general skills. Some of these mods are Surf, Bunny-Hop, Jailbreak and The Hunger Games (This one is more for fun like Jailbreak but I am not 100% sure as I have not played it).
Watching Pro Games/VODs
Another way of improving everything in CS is to watch how professionals play or to watch VODs of how professionals play. This includes Major Tournaments, Streams, VODs, POV and even GOTV or higher ranks. I highly recommend watching Major Tournaments or watching the VODs of them. I also suggest watching POV demos of players that you like and see how they play on different maps and use that against your opponents in MM, FaceIt and/or ESEA.

THIS is a playlist of a few POV recordings of some of the best players. Some of them are old others are new either way I suggest watching these even if there are not a lot.

If you want to find out something about your personal favorite pro who isn't in this playlist a quick YouTube or Google search should do the trick. You can focus on whatever element of the game you want to practice by just watching how they do it. For example if you want to learn how screaM gets god like headshots just look at his aim or how flusha has walls good game-sense then just focus on that element.
Using Your Smokes/Molotovs
This is another heavy hitter in CS:GO and that is learning how to throw smokes/molotovs. If you don't smoke of molotov a certain entry way you could easily lose that round if the enemies get a quick few frags on your team. Flashbangs and HE grenades are just as important but I will go in depth with those in another section of this guide. I am going to link to my favorite videos about smokes and include a practice map to most active duty maps (Including Nuke) so that you can practice using them. Some don't have a map at the current time but if more come out I will update this section. The videos DO go over flashes which you can use but I am still going to make another section dedicated to flashes.

1) Dust2 Video And Practice Map

2) Train Video And No Practice Map

3) Mirage Video And Practice Map

4) Cache Video And Practice Map

5) Inferno Video And Practice Map

6) Overpass Video And Practice Map

7) Cobblestone Video And No Practice Map

8) Nuke Video And No Practice Map

I do NOT own these videos all credit goes to JamieW Subscribe to him as he makes awesome content and also really helpful content.

He has let me use his videos.
Flashbangs
Flashbangs are the most important grenades excluding smokes in CS:GO. They can turn a round on its head if used correctly. Below are some of the best videos covering most maps and 10 Pop-Flashes on each map. Made by TrilluXe

1) Dust2

2) Inferno

3) Cache

4) Mirage

For the rest of the maps I suggest using JamieW's videos from before as they also contain a lot of flashes that you can use that are as good as pop-flashes and some of them are.
Performance And FPS
In order to get to the higher ranks like say DMG-GE you WILL need a higher framerate and your PC will need high performance or else you simply wont be able to compete. You may get to DMG but you will not get much further. I don't have the best PC myself but I managed to get a stable 100-200FPS after playing at 30-80 FPS before. You can also get higher FPS with some tips that I used. Before we start NONE of these can get you VAC Banned. A few people including myself once, have said that Razor Cortex can cause VAC Errors. But that has only ever happened to me once so if you don't want to use it you don't have to.

1) Set Launch Options For CS:GO. Go-to Your Library > CS:GO > Right-Click > Properties > Set Launch Options. If you want to see what I use here you go.
-novid -nojoy -language bananagaming -high -threads 2
Language Bananagaming will NOT work unless you downloaded the file Bananagaming had edited.
In my opinion it does help. His YouTube Video

2) Razor Cortex. This is a simple and easy to use program that will boost your FPS. Not all PCs will experience a difference but this was one the main factors for my FPS boost. You can find Razor Cortex HERE. [www.razerzone.com]

3) Overclocking. I cant really go in-depth with Overclocking because I haven't done it but I have heard it increases your FPS significantly. So I cant give personal input but if you wanna overclock heres a Tutorial On Intel Processors [lifehacker.com] This was the first thing I found on Google so if you have an AMD processor just look up "How To Overclock an AMD Processor" or something along those lines.

4) Update your Drivers. Shouldn't have to explain what this means but just in case you need help. Just launch your AMD or Nvidia control panel and it should ask you to update if it doesn't you are probably up to date as most Nvidia and AMD drivers install automatically if you think you aren't updated to the latest driver simply go to AMDs site or Nvidia's site for troubleshooting tips.

5) Anti-Virus, Anti-Malware anything to do with security protection. Do NOT disable your anti-virus or any program that protects your computer. If you do it is at your own risk. But to make sure your anti-virus doesn't intervene with your game I suggest using Bitdefender [www.bitdefender.com.au] as they have a separate mode that allows games to run with minimal background programs using your RAM and CPU. The best thing about Bitdefender is that it is free for I believe a month correct me if I'm wrong on that one.

6) Controllers and Joysticks. Unplug ANY joysticks or controllers that are connected to your PC. I don't know personally if this helps but many people say it does.

7) Disable the Steam Community in-game. This has improved my FPS but it can be annoying to Alt-Tab out to message someone so I don't use this but if you would like to heres how. Go To Your Game Library > CS:GO > Right-Click > Properties > Un-Check "Enable The Steam Overlay While In-Game". Done.

8) This Reddit Thread This thread literally doubled my FPS. They are video tutorials and they go over some stuff that I mentioned in this guide but this was the main contributer to my FPS gain. It literally doubled my FPS. Watch the videos, they WILL help.

I'm not saying these WILL improve your FPS but most of these worked for me so they may or may not with you. Test some out and see if it does make a difference. If you know of any other ways that could help with FPS issues post them in the comments and I will add them here. Comments about deleting System32 will be removed and people will be banned from posting.
Map Awareness
Map Awareness if you don't know is really similar to game-sense however compared to game-sense Map Awareness is knowing where common spots are and how to prefire those common spots. But you will also have to learn how to prefire uncommon spots as well. The only way that I believe you could learn this is by practice and experience. If anyone makes custom maps of the original that could help please post in the comments and I will check them out and if you allow it I will post it here. So for the lower ranks and sometimes even the higher ranks you should go in a offline server and just practice prefiring and learning common spots on all maps that are in the active duty maps.
Movement And Positioning
Movement and positioning is EXTREMELY important. The way I learnt movement and positioning was by watching major tournaments and watching professionals streams. So obviously I am suggesting to watch the 3 majors of the year. I also suggest watching streams of pros. But another way and I am sorry to say this so much but of course its practice. Go into an offline server and play on whatever map in the active map pool and just practice your movement in certain spots. For example on Dust 2 I would suggest going on T cat and just before the stairs learning how to peek the top of the stairs and the bottom of the stairs. So that when you get in a game you can clear those 2 spots. This also fits into prefiring mentioned in the Map Awareness section of this guide. This will take a long time to master but with mastering this you will be able to out play your opponents. Positioning I don't think could be practiced in offline because it depends on what level you are and I believe could only be learned by playing and you will learn it with time and experience.
Crosshair Placement
This section could save your life or get you killed depending if you do the good things or the bad things. Crosshair placement could potentially kill you in game if you are not aiming in the right position. ALWAYS aim at head height. If you don't believe that you could kill someone while aiming at head height at LEAST aim at chest height. If you aim at their feet then they have a MAJOR advantage over you because you have to re-aim whereas they could have shot 3 bullets already and you have a fraction of a second before you are dead. This always happens at the lower ranks and you can see with lower ranked YouTubers and just by watching lower ranked games in the watch tab. If you think your crosshair is holding you back and not your aim then check out the crosshair map which is in the Aim section of the guide.
Scripting And Using Aliases/In-Game Commands
So this section of the guide will be extremely long if everything I want to do with it actually works. It will also not be useful to every player but if you want to continue feel free to as I use scripts and a lot of other players especially some pros use them. You will need to enable the console in-game to use these. To access it go in-game > Go To Settings > Game Settings > Enable Developer Console And Change That To Yes.

NONE OF THESE WILL TRIGGER VAC BANS

If you don't know what scripting is, it's a way that you can use in-game commands to potentially create a bigger command or another way of explaining is that you use a bunch of commands to make one big command which is know as an alias or script. For example the following script is an alias type of script that you can use in-game to drop the bomb without switching to it.
alias "dropbomb" "slot5;drop"
Now that you have an alias all you have to do now is to bind it to a key. For example "K". To do this type;
"bind k "dropbomb"

You could expand on this command by telling your team that you are dropping that bomb by doing this alias.
alias "dropbomb" "slot5;drop;say_team "Dropping The Bomb"
Now when you press "K" it will say in-game to your team "Dropping The Bomb". You do not need to rebind this unless you have changed the name of the alias from "dropbomb" to something else. However unless you add this to your "autoexec.cfg" it will NOT save. To make an "autoexec.cfg" you will need to find this "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Counter-Strike Global Offensive\csgo\cfg". > Create A Text Document > DON'T WRITE ANYTHING And Save As. Click On "Save As Type" And Change That To All Files, Now Change The Name To "autoexec.cfg" Make Sure You DON'T Have .txt At The End. Now Save It > Open It With Either Notepad Or Notepad++ [notepad-plus-plus.org] (Which I Recommend) > Now Add The Script That You Made (In This Case The "dropbomb" Alias) In The .cfg File. COPY THE ALIAS IN FULL NOT JUST THE NAME OF IT (Also Copy The "bind k "dropbomb" Part Into The autoexec) > Save And Close It > Launch CS:GO > Open Console Using "~" Key (By Default) And Type "exec autoexec" And Press Enter.

Now whenever you play pressing "K" (or whatever key you bound it to) will drop the bomb without you having to switch to it (if you choose to use this alias/script).

Because alias is such a massive command with MANY, MANY possibilities I will not do heaps of them. Instead I will talk about ten really useful scripts and aliases that could help you in-game. Many of which I actually use (some I have stopped using but are still extremely helpful others may just be something for fun which I might add to an honorable mentions section).

Most of the scripts are from THIS video which is made by BananaGaming go check him out for informative videos and more.

1) Display Damage with Switch Script
This script will show you any damage you did to all enemies in the top right corner of your screen. So if you did damage to more then one person you don't have to open console and check but you just look at the top right of your screen. It also says who you damaged.

alias displaydamage "displaydamage_on"
alias displaydamage_on "con_filter_text Damage Given To; con_filter_text_out Player:; con_filter_enable 2; developer 1; playvol buttons\blip1 0.5; alias displaydamage "displaydamage_off""
alias displaydamage_off "con_filter_enable 0; developer 0; playvol buttons\blip2 0.5; alias displaydamage "displaydamage_on""
bind "f5" "displaydamage"

To use this just copy and paste it into your "autoexec.cfg" and if you want to change "f5" to something else feel free to do so. This is the same for all of the scripts/aliases so keep this in mind.

2) Show netgraph when checking scoreboard
Pretty self explanatory but if you don't know what netgraph is, it's a little box that displays your FPS, Ping, The Tickrate Of The Server and a bunch of other things. This makes it so it doesnt clog your screen unless you open your scoreboard. And when you open your scoreboard the netgraph will be underneath it.

net_graph "1"
net_graphheight "9999"
alias "+scorenet" "+showscores; net_graphheight 0"
alias "-scorenet" "-showscores; net_graphheight 9999"
bind "TAB" "+scorenet"

NOTE: If you want to change "TAB" to something else you will need to change your scoreboard button to something else as well.

3) Show crosshair Settings
This is extremely self explanatory it shows everything you need to know about your crosshair which can be useful if you want to change a certain aspect about your crosshair OR you want to share it with your friends by either sending it to them or having it on your Steam profile.

alias "a1" clear
alias "a2" echo "*********************************************";
alias "a3" echo "YOUR CURRENT CROSSHAIR SETTINGS;"
alias "a4" echo "*********************************************";
alias "a5" developer 2
alias "a6" con_filter_enable 1
alias "a7" con_filter_text cl_crosshair
alias "a8" host_writeconfig //
alias "a9" con_filter_text cl_fix
alias "a10" host_writeconfig //
alias "a11" developer 0
alias "a12" con_filter_enable 0
alias "a13" showconsole
alias "showcrosshair" "a1;a2;a3;a4;a5;a6;a7;a8;a9;a10;a11;a12;a13"
bind ins "showcrosshair"

4) Show viewmodel Settings
Exactly the same concept as the crosshair one but this time it shows your viewmodel.

alias "b1" clear
alias "b2" echo "*********************************************";
alias "b3" echo "YOUR CURRENT VIEWMODEL SETTINGS;
alias "b4" echo "*********************************************";
alias "b5" developer 2
alias "b6" con_filter_enable 1
alias "b7" con_filter_text viewmodel
alias "b8" host_writeconfig //
alias "b9" con_filter_text view_punch
alias "b10" host_writeconfig //
alias "b11" developer 0
alias "b12" con_filter_enable 0
alias "b13" showconsole
alias "showviewmodel" "b1;b2;b3;b4;b5;b6;b7;b8;b9;b10;b11;b12;b13"
bind del "showviewmodel"

5) Jump Throw Script
Most people know about this script. It is a jump throw script for when you jump and throw smoke grenades. This is a bit harder to use but to use it you put it in your autoexec and launch CS. Go in a server, grab a smoke and press your +attack1 key (Mouse1 by default) and then put your "jumpthrow" bind button (Mouse5 by default) and it will throw the smoke at the start of your jump sending the smoke as far as you can throw it. NOTE: FaceIt tournaments, ESEA tournaments and any other tournaments may NOT allow the use of this bind. Make sure to read the rules of the specific tournament to make sure you don't get disqualified or banned by the organizers. I will NOT be held responsible if you do get banned while using this script.

THIS WON'T CAUSE A VAC BAN JUST A TOURNAMENT BAN FROM SPECIFIC TOURNAMENTS READ THEIR RULES CAREFULLY

alias "+jumpthrow" "+jump;-attack"
alias "-jumpthrow" "-jump"
bind "mouse5" "+jumpthrow"

6) The Drop Bomb Script
This is the example we used before. This script is actually really handy if you are in a 2v1 and you need to pass the bomb to your teammate so he can plant. If you hold your knife out then press the button you will reach maximum velocity and throw the bomb further then you would holding the bomb. (For those who didn't know you run slightly slower while holding the bomb compared to the knife [unless they changed it but I don't think they did]) EDIT: They did change it or it has always been this way and im stupid. Please tell me. :) Either way it still has its uses.

alias "bombdrop" "slot5;drop"
bind k "bombdrop"
Scripting And Using Aliases/In-Game Commands (Cont)
7) My Practice Config
This isnt useful in a real situation as it is if you are just practicing. This guide will set up your private server for practice. Whether that server is just one you created in a lobby (silent) or a dedicated/online server for you and your mates to join with an IP. If you have a dedicated server however the commands will be different. THIS [pastebin.com] is for server owners and THIS [pastebin.com] is for people who make their servers through the game.

NOTE TO SERVER OWNERS: YOUR RCON PASSWORD WILL BE DIFFERENT TO THE ONE IN THE CONFIG. YOU CAN FIND YOUR ON THE WEBSITE YOUR SERVER IS BEING HOSTED ON OR YOU CAN JUST PUT THOSE COMMANDS 1 BY 1 INTO YOUR SERVERS CONSOLE (Not Your In-Game Console).

8) Game Info For Streamers
This does not use in-game commands nor aliases but it is still a cool script as it uses the new Game State Integration that Valve introduced a bit ago but made more user friendly (even then it still is for advanced users). This is useful for streamers as well. It does not have a download link nor tutorial but the creator has said he will upload sooner. If you want to see the script click HERE and if you want to keep updated with the creators Reddit click HERE If you want to see what the script looks like click HERE [i.imgur.com]

9) Launders Left Handed Knife And Right Handed Gun Script
THIS SCRIPT WILL NOT DO ANYTHING TO YOUR PERFORMANCE AND IS PURELY FOR AESTHETIC PURPOSES ONLY.
This script is used to allow your knife to be on the left hand side whilst your gun is on the right BUT you can customize the script to have whatever commands you like BUT that comes with a risk that might stop the script working all together. Since the script is MASSIVE I am leaving the Reddit post HERE and the Pastebin to the original script HERE [pastebin.com].

IMPORTANT NOTE: You cannot use this script if you use and key (default "4") to CYCLE GRENADES. This script was written to be compatible with quick-switching (Default "Q") but will not work unless you bind each grenade to a separate key.

I plan to use this script in the future once I learn how I want to use it properly. I thought it looked cool which is why I am going to do it.

10) Clutch Script

//Skazzy3's epic clutch bind - START
//Remake by Maxim

//Don't touch this
alias "clutch" "clutchon"
alias "clutchon" "voice_enable 0; clutchsoundon; gameinstructor_enable 1; cl_clearhinthistory; r_cleardecals; playvol buttons\weapon_confirm 0.5; say_team Voice Disabled, I can't hear anyone now; alias clutch clutchoff"
alias "clutchoff" "voice_enable 1; clutchsoundoff; gameinstructor_enable 0; playvol buttons\button2 0.5; say_team Voice Enabled, I can hear you now; alias clutch clutchon"
clutchoff

//Bind this to a key (this will turn on & off the clutch)
bind "F2" clutch

//Clutch audio options.
//Feel free to edit these how you like.
alias "clutchsoundon" "volume 0.6; snd_musicvolume 0.2; snd_menumusic_volume 0; snd_deathcamera_volume 0; snd_mapobjective_volume 0; snd_roundend_volume 0; snd_roundstart_volume 0; snd_tensecondwarning_volume 1"
alias "clutchsoundoff" "volume 0.5; snd_musicvolume 0; snd_menumusic_volume 0; snd_deathcamera_volume 0; snd_mapobjective_volume 0; snd_roundend_volume 0; snd_roundstart_volume 0; snd_tensecondwarning_volume 0"
//Skazzy3's epic clutch bind - END

NOTE: This may not be allowed in some tournaments.

They might be illegal in tournaments but thats because the organisers dont want people to use them. BUT THEY ARE NOT ILLEGAL IN NORMAL GAMES. Valve made this in their game so its allowed.
pro ragebaiting gogin  [author] 22 Dec, 2015 @ 10:06pm
@AchefXA Buy scripts are not illegal. If they were they would not be in the game. All the buys scripts are, are commands that you can access in the game. Eg, "buy ak47" is a console command that you can bind to a key. ANYONE who says its bannable unless its Valve are lying.
AchefCh 22 Dec, 2015 @ 8:20pm
Do you know scripts are considered cheating right? (Even buy scripts) It's a nice guide but you can get a nice ban if people catches you scripting... Just giving my two cents on that, the rest, the guide is solid and will give it a try out.

I can translate the guide to Spanish if you're interested just contact me and I'll help out.

@Vulcan Thanks :). @Frosty Glad you thought so. @Delia I cant translate it to Romanian as I only speak English and a small bit of French. If you want to translate it then post it here saying that you want to translate it and I will get in contact with you. @Pylon Paul I know this sounds rude but stop complaining. You are just going to where you belong. I was GE and on the day of everyone deranking I deranked. WHO CARES. I didnt care because I was messing around with Nova friends at the time and I had fun. Just wait a few days or dont play MM at all. Complaining is NOT going to do anything. @Tr33hous3 Yes, yes it is. @ExisT Thanks.
