Vancouver, BC, Canada

Description
Think you can solve one of the most challenging commuter scenarios in North America?

In the real world, Vancouverites are plagued by some of the most congested roadways in Canada. They also happen to be poised to vote on major changes to public transit. With this map, test if what is being proposed is actually viable - or see if you can do a better job!

Rail and road connections are inspired by real-life lines. For even more of a challenge, try playing by Vancouver's rules: no added highways in the metro centre, and no commuter rail line running east/west from UBC to the City Centre.

This map is based on real geographic features of Vancouver, including the UBC Endowment Lands, Stanley Park, the North Shore Mountains, Richmond and Lulu Islands, and the Fraser River.

Thanks for the feedback.
For me then, I'd prefer to have just the Second Narrows (Iron Workers Memorial) as the only bridge and centre the game to start from there.

Either that, or start downtown, but end the highway downtown (no First Narrows/Lions Gate) and make outside traffic come from Squamish, through West/North Vancouver and over the Iron workers.

I'd like to see a highway come from the south too and stop at the Oak Street and Knight Street bridges and include Deltaport and Tsawwassen ferry terminal as that would be awesome to use it in game the same as their true life purposes.

When i first made the map, I tried to keep the map vanilla, without mods. I'm not aware of a way to create a start map that has more than the stock one-way highways, which is why (to build the map's connections) there's a highway running through downtown and the twin bridge in place of the Lion's Gate Bridge. I agree with @andrew and @tfwo though that to make the map more immersive it would be better to not have highways - Vancouver in particular is the way it was because it rejected highways in it's development as a city.

I agree with @tfwo, the highway shouldn't run through the city.

Also because of this, the Lions gate bridge gets twinned, which it is not.

I'd also like to see the elevations exaggerated? It seems too flat and all the drumlins get lost, especially Queen Elizabeth Park and Burnaby mountain.

Nice, but you should change Granville St, Kingsway, Main and Georgia to 6 lane regular roads, not highways...to recreate the true traffic mayhem!

Hope you like it! The North Shore (unplayable, boo), too, has a nice flowing water treatment.
