So,you readed every chapters of the guide.So you were like "Oh my god it's so great!" or "Meh" or even sometimes "THIS GUIDE SUUUUUUUUUUUUCKSSSSS11!!11!11111111!1!1!!1133!!!".But then you wonder things,like "How did he do that part?" or "Why is that image looking like this" or "THIS GUIDE SUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCKSSSS1111!1!!!!!!!!11!!!!!!1194581!!!".Well,this epilogue will give you answers different from Risk of Rain gameplay answers,but answers on how I made this guide,why that image looks like it,but sadly not why THIS GUIDE SUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCKSSSSS 111!!11!11!1111!II!!!!

It was a snowy night.28th February.I just had my spring break start (Quebec has it the first week of march because that's when it starts getting hotter).I'm in front of my desktop,and staring at the hundreds of game pilled there.

What should I play..Besiege?Nah,laggy..Hotline Miami?Dude,I already finished this one 3 times and the second is coming.Hmm...

Then,suddenly,I see it:Risk of Rain.I start it up,and play.I play it through once,twice,then I start wondering if there's any items out there I should use that I don't.I get steam up,and look at the community guides,only to see that there's not that much good guides out there,and none answers my criteras.

I read most of the guides,and,discouraged,I stop doing it.Finally,I just decide to stop playing risk of rain..Only to launch it again because I still want to play and I've got nothing else to do.Sad about the guides out there (most of them,not all),I start playing.I'm using Loader,I'm on Monsoon.3 hours in.I start thinking about the overloading magma worm achievement not working,and then the idea crosses my mind

If no one out there made a guide for Risk of Rain,why don't I do it myself?

I get back on steam,click the "Create a guide" button and get to work.

Yeah,making a guide could end up sweet,and it sounds fun.But how do I do it?Never done anything like that before,and I have no ideas how the steam guides works.But I decided to focus on something more important first,what it'll be about.I decide to go with every characters,because that's pretty important.But then I think..

There's already a lot out there.I should do it on relics!Wait,there's some too.Iteeeems?I guess I could..Ok,♥♥♥♥ off,doing it on all of those.But won't it be too big?Hmm,I could split it in multiple parts.

So be it.At first,the cover picture was jsut the Credit's ending picture you get of the Commando that I stole on Google images and it wasn't even the right size.It'll do,I thought.

Then,I started working.The intro was made,the picture was stolen found and I just had to start working.

At this point,I finished writing the intro and I'm mostly in the middle of the "Gotta Catch 'Em All!" section.Then I think

Why not use pictures?

So be it.I go on Google image again,write "Risk of Rain Commando" and take the best one I find.It was an artwork from some dude on Deviantart,really nice looking.I download all the artworks he made,and upload them,only to after this about one problem:The possible copyright.Since I'm really scared of doing things wrong on my first guide,I couldn't take the chance.I delete the pictures,and wonder how I'll do it

Let's just do like I always do and follow that lesson I learned long ago;There's no better man to have faith into than yourself.Take the pictures yourself from the game!

That's what I did.After taking the pictures,I put them in the Gotta Catch 'Em All section and finish writing it.Then comes the characters,and tips on them.I thought first of putting it in 1 section,but it's too big and hard to locate characters so I split it up.Published the guide and went to sleep.

Next morning,I wake up.First time I do a guide in my life!So hyped!I go look at the view count:It's at 5!4 other dudes in this world has seen and appreciated my work!Well,maybe not appreciated,because I might have ♥♥♥♥♥♥ it up somehow..But let's just write Chapter 2.

At this point,I was thinking of doing 5 chapters,first on characters,second on relics,third on enemies,fourth on items and fifth on bosses.Then I'd be done.The idea of making 10 chapters only came after.I also still had this ugly-ass cover picture!

I make the sections,get Risk of Rain up,and make a run.I decided,before going to sleep,that all pictures will be done by me.I mostly respected that rule,unless on certain occassions.

I start the run,and take pictures for the artifact.Print screen,get it on paint,paste,edit it,save it,repeat until fame achieved.Simple,right?Would be,if it wasn't of the terrible luck I had.I had to go through 40 levels to finally reach the Magma barracks with the artifact in it! (At this point,every other pictures were taken).So I go on,and start pressing the buttons..And I crash.The game was out of memory for some reasons.

Extremel frustrated,I start another run,and had to do about 20 levels before I find it back again,because I'm oh so lucky.I get the artifact and pictures for it.But Kin was still missing,as Loader can't get it.I start a run with Commando,get some pics and publish the guide.I then just go to sleep.

This one is where I removed the ugly as ♥♥♥♥ picture.As I was writing about the monsters,I was wondering if adding a picture would be needed,then decided that it would.But where would I find a picture for every mobs without it being an in-game picture?For guys like Clay-Man it wouldn't have done it.

I go on the main menu,and start thinking.Then I see it:Monster Logs!I click on that,and,at my surprise,I've got every monster logs unlocked,unless 3 bosses.Didn't check it in a while,sure,but wasn't expecting that!

I take in picture the monster logs,and upload them,adding them to the guide at the correct spaces,only to notice a bit after those guys have stats on their logs.I take those stats and add them,because it'll be my best bet on a clear and simple way to judge an enemy.I rewrite a bit of text to match the new infos,and decide to publish the guide.

Then I see the ugly-as-♥♥♥♥ picture,and decide to get rid of it,somehow.I start up right of rain,and go back to the monster logs.Then I have an idea:The bosses!I'll use those as cover pictures!Edit it,then change all 3 actual guides out for the bosses picture the have right now.

Not soon enough to go to sleep.I look at chapter 1 and see it now has 46 views!Pride fills me up,and I feel even more excited to start Chapter 4.I scroll through the "Week's most popular guides" part and see mine at the top,with anothe guide called "Actually confortable controls" under it.I click on that one,curious.The guide was short,but I learnt that I'm not the only one with that control setup.I leave a comment to the creator,Blackhawk_846,and leave.

Meanwhile,Coffechipmunk commented on the second and third chapter.I go to answer him after posting a comment on the guide,not knowing I'd work with him the day just after,and answered the comment Blackhawk left me too.

Fast-forward requested!What we're skipping is simply comments here.I had a comment talk with Blackhawk and Coffeechipmunk,and both of them added me.I accepted both and kept chatting.

Knowing the item's guide tomorrow was going to be harsh,I decided to start working on it.But even if I start working the night beore,I wasn't going to be able to.Quickly,I ask Coffechipmunk and Blachawk for support,and both accept.We created a chatroom,and started talking about it,mostly the organisation,how we'll proceed and what each will do.

After 15 mins of chatting,we setted it up:It'll be organised by rarity and type,we'll proceed each on our side and we'll all do 2 rarites.I had Purples and Whites,Blackhawk had Greens and Oranges,while Coffeechipmunk had Reds and Yellows.We work a bit and go to sleep after.

Xgpmcnp's view:I wake up,and rush to Steam.Sadly,neither Coffeechipmunk or Blackhawk was online,and I was working,feeling a bit lonely.Finally,Coffechipmunk connects and we start working together,talking about it.Then,Blackhawk sends me a message,saying he won't be able to do his job for reasons I won't state here.I tell him I understand,and he disconnects.

Time to tell the new to my new partner.We both decided to split his job in half,so I get to do the greens too and Coffee's on the oranges too now.We both get to work,quickly.

Fast-forward here,I have no memory of what exactly happened,but I do know that I somehow ended up doing the oranges for reasons.The day was long and we worked a lot.

Nearly done.Only 3 more white items and I'll be on greens...This is really,really killing me.I don't wanna do it,too much working,I just wasted a whole day doing researches and writing and working.Tired of that ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥,but gotta keep working.I think Coffee felt the same,but no evidence.
C'mon,only 2 greens and I'm done with the offensives..And then chatting

Coffechipmunk:I'm on the offensive and support reds,didn't touch defensives yet.Yellow's finished and you did oranges.
Xgpmcnp:Great work!I'm at greens,defensive greens soon enough.We're nearly done dude,let's keep working!

I wake up, hop on Steam, and get to work. Unfortunately, I had school later, so I did as many reds as possible, and asked Xgpmcnp to do the oranges while I was at school so it would get done faster. After I got home from school, We got back to work, and got going, and finally finished it.

Xgpmcnp's view:Yep,really easy.Me and Coffee splitted up the job,doing each our bosses.Didn't take long at all.We were wondering about the Ancient Wisp's description because Coffee made a real sweet "Jounrnal Entry" for him and I loved it,but it wasn't informative enough.After editing it a bit,we finally got to a nice looking one,and then published it.

Then we played the game on multiplayer a bit,and went to sleep.Short day it was,short day.

Coffeechipmunk's view:

The hardest one out of them all, where you copy data found in Monster Logs, and put your own little touch. Hardest out of all of them. Nah, just kidding. None of them were hard, per say, just very long. Like, Chapter 4. There are a lot of items in RoR, so that took some time (over 20 hours!).

Xgpmcnp's view:My best friend is home!I onyl see him once every 2 weeks.Also,Coffee was kinda busy that day.So I decided to take a day off,and we both agreed to work the next day

The next day,I wasn't able to contact Coffee.I did a bit of work,and went to sleep

I learnt Coffee was babysitting,so that's why he wasn't reachable.Either way,we decided to split the job so I'd do Character-specific ones and he'd do global achievements.Another day,another guide written.(While I'm writing this,I'm starting to think about how the last chapters really aren't interesting..It's just us working on it,without an real events happening,sadly.)

Went to sleep.Short day.

Xgpmcnp's view:Chapter 7 wasn't a long one to do either,but it was the first one where I used images I hadn't done myself.Felt kinda guilty,but they're wiki images!I thiiiink..?Shouldn't give me much trouble anyway,as I wasn't even able to get all of them.

Another one of the easy ones, the biggest issue being how hard it was to find pictures. Not many maps had full pictures, mainly being Boar Beach, Temple of The Elders, and Risk of Rain. But, this was still a fun one!

Xgpmcnp's view:But I didn't go to sleep after chapter 7!I was so sad about how I had a 2 days delay on release,I decided to do Chapter 8 on my own that night.Wouldn't force Coffee to work on 2 guides a day,so I did it all by myself,even though I always used Sacrifice artifact.The hardest part was getting pictures for the drone,because I couldn't seem to get the Flame one.After a while just took the wiki's GIFs

Pretty happy with the result.I barely ever used my money,but I think those are pretty nice tips for those who prefer without sacrifice.

Coffeechipmunk didn't work on this one!

Xgpmcnp's view:This one was about stats.But then again,I wasn't able to contact Coffee..But I didn't want to skip another day.I did it on my own,once again (Not complaining at all,I had fun doing it!),and I like the result once again.Most of it was research,and most of it teached me new things.

And that's how this Handbook ends.Was a greatisim experience,and I have no regrets writing it.Might do another Handbook next month on some other game (Nuclear Throne,Hero Siege..),because this one was fun to do.Guess I'll think about it
