Laser Logic Gates and Flip-Flops

Description
This contraption shows how logic gates can be made using lasers and how these laser-based logic gates can be combined in different ways to create functional electronic components for the understanding of logic circuits, microprocessing, or just messing around.

Hey thanks for the encouragement. In case you didn't know, I did put these logic gates to good use into a working contraption that counts objects and store the value in binary. You can check it out in http://gtm.steamproxy.vip/profiles/76561198119919515/myworkshopfiles/?appid=241240

Fantastic stuff. Keep up the good work, look forward to seeing more!

Awesome, I am fond with exploring further possibilities with lasers and logic. I might start a version 2 and share my knowledge on the matter when I can find more ways to play around with laser logic circuits.

I always love seeing computer and logic contraptions. I've added this to the editor's choice section of the workshop.

We have an old thread in the forum that was made when we very first introduced lasers to the game. It went over how to make different gates and logic circuits. Unfortunately most of the contraptions in it are outdated because we have changed the lasers since then. If you want to start a version 2 of the thread and try to revive it, that would be awesome!

I notice how useful the beam splitters can be so I thought of giving it a try at replicating logic gates. So in within a day, with less than 4 hours of sleep, and lots of switching back and forth between CM and wikipedia, I manage to build a functional example of how lasers can simulate logical behavior as logic gates and when combined, they can function as simple flip-flops to register shifter flip flops.
