Nope, didn't "find" him. Maybe you have to ignore the chest until you get into Exploration Mode.
I'm totally NOT going to try that.

Really? Can you get the flying dog, too? They stated they were going to remove both the special outfit, which we assumed was the tunic, and the dog, so it does seem kind of weird. Thanks for the heads up though!

The green tunic is still (or again) obtainable. Just beat the game, leave the island with your boat and the "Explore the island freely" mode starts, go to Shoppington and he'll give it to you. Yes, for free.
