How to Be all the Spy you Can be

This teachs you how to be a good spy with some helpful tips and tricks. This also teachs you how to become the famous Spy-crab. Hope this guide makes your expirence as a spy and gamer more succesful and enjoyible!

Chapter 1 the Spy
he spy (aka The Shpee) is a stealthy young Frenchman with a wide range of various weapons. In order to know how the spy is played you will first need to know the weapons.

1.The Revolver: The Revolver is the only ranged weapon of the spy, it does very small damage so should only be used when in danger or when the enemy you have spotted is very weak and can be shot once and killed.

2.The Knife: The knife is the spy's melee weapon he can do decent amounts of damage by stabbing the enemy but if used to stab in back the spy will execute a insta-kill.

3. The Sapper: This is the weapon the spy uses to sap enemy buildings to damage or destroy them. The engie can repair it to remove. An addition good side to it is you don't lose your disguise while sapping

4.The Disguise: This allows you to look like the enemy, can be lost if you use the Revolver, or the Knife.

5. The Cloak: The cloak allows the spy to turn completely invisible. Will wear off eventually and can be seen if bumped into.
Chapter 2: Uncloaking
Many, Many Spys have died do to uncloaking in bad spots. Here are some steps to uncloaking succesfully:

1. Dont uncloak right next to enimies: If an enemy Player has the volume of their game turned up enough they will be able to hear you uncloak and caught you, always make sure you are far enough away to not be heard.

2.When uncloaking check for enimies before doing so: Before uncloaking always check for nearby enemies becuase if they see you, well you know what's gonna happen.

3.Dont Panic!: If you are cloaked and run into an enemy stay cloaked and get away, dont uncloak or they will chase you.
Chapter 3: Avoding the obvious
Many good players can spot Spys because of the Spy's obvious actions. Here are somethings not to do.

1. Dont run straight at the enemy ever: NEVER run striaght at the enemy if cloaked or un cloaked
if cloaked could get bumped into and killed or if uncloaked you will obviously get killed. Even if You have a Dead Ringer you should only use it as an escape tool and you will probally run out of cloak.

2.The medic disguise: If you decide to be desguised as medic make sure you have the medi-gun equiped on you disguise or else you be caught as an obvous spy, to change disguise weopon to medi-gun simply switch to your Sapper and click the re-cloak button when disguised as medic. If you dont have that assigned make sure you do so in options.

Chapter 4: The Spy-Crab
One of the most popular Weird things in the game is the famous Spy-Crab. The Spy-Crab is a un-cloaked spy that looks like a crab and main goal is to act dumb and sometimes annoy other players. If you are wondering "What is a Spy-Crab?" I have a screenshot of one below. If you wanna be a Spy-Crab here is what you have to do: 1. crouch (hold control) 2. Look at ceiling 3. Take out disguise but dont pick a disguise. 4. keep doing all these steps and walk aroung. p.s most players like me dont get annoyed they think its funny.
Chapter 5: Being cautious
As a Spy you allways need to be aware of your self and whats around you. Here are somethings to look out for:

1.The Spy-Checker: The spy checker is a Pyro that runs around flamethrowering everything to try to find an enemy spy, if you see him put some distance between him and you.

2.Check the cloak: Make sure you have enough cloak to reach your next recharging spot or un-aware enemy, If you run out you will be caught.

3.Make sure your disguised: After an attack your disguise will go away, quickly re-disguise by pressing your re-disguise key.
Chapter 6: The sapp and bait tatic
To use this tatic you will need to have the following: An Engie away from sentry or other building, You with a sapper and knife able to be quickly swaped back and forth by pressing the previus key, and no one else around. To do this you quickly sapp the sentry back up and as the engie goes to repair it backstab him and run. BTW dont do it in a heavily engineered place like below
Chapter : 7 hotkeying by using the previous key
One way to switch between weopons easily is switching to the weopon you want to hotkey then to another then you can switch back and forth between them by pressing q(or whatever key you assigned to previous key).
Chapter 8: They Tele-sapping tricks
So you manage to get to thier spawn and you see a working teleporter. Should you sap it? The answer is yes but ive learned it is how you sap it that matters. Lets pretend there is no one at thier spawn and you have the time to do a normal sap, do it. The engi keeps repairing it? In this situation there is 2 things you can do each with varouis outcomes.

Method 1: The annoying sapper. If you know the engi keeps repairing the teleporter keep spamming mouse one on the tele entrance with the sapper. Eventually if you do it with enough speed the engineers teleporter will get sapped because no matter how fast he hits his teleporter to undo your sap he can't stop his teleporter from getting destroyed. It still takes a second for the sap to go away after you sap the tele and some of the health is drained. All the engi can do is remove the sapper not repair health because after the first swing of the wrench that removed the sapper you will immeditatly have another sap down so he can never get his teleporter back to full health. If that was confusing i apologize as i am not good at explaining it but basicaly; you sap faster than engi repairs so you win if you just keep up with the m1.

Method 2: Telefrag sapper. If you know after every sap you do on a tele entrance he reapairs it then he must be near it or on top of it so he can keep repairing sap. In this case you can sap agian but this time instead of sapping agian and agian.stand on the tele entranve. Once the engi repairs the entrance you will go through the tele and telefrag him, killing him and leaving all the equipment he had vurnable. Sap all of it and you just cleared a sentry nest.
The end
Spy is a very fun class to play when good but not fun class to play when bad. I hope this guide has helped you become a better spy and enjoy this game!!

Hey thanks for all the support this guide got, I recalled a few more hints i forgot so i am adding them. I am also gonna spell check this guide as I know it contained various mistakes. I may make another guide or call this v2 i don't know what i am doing yet but i just wanted to thank everyone who liked and favorated this guide

@ZectoR too bad a soldier or demo could easily destroy them with an uber. Actually, too bad all you need is medic, demo, and soldier.

Spy is usefull at the gamemodes where need to defend with engies and some classes what are good to defend if you are attacking like attack/defend is good as spy.
