So you've played through a couple heists, and you're sitting there picking a lock, when suddenly a man with a big saw shoves you out of the way and just cuts the lock open in half a second, and you think to yourself, "WOW! I've got to get me one of those!"

Don't worry, we've all been there. Unfortunately for some of you however, it may pain you to know that the OVE9000 Portable Saw is not an item you unlock by leveling up, nor is it a tool that everyone can buy.

The OVE9000 Portable Saw can only be unlocked by spending 4 skill points in the skill for it in the fifth tier of the Enforcer tree. After unlocking the saw, you will still need to purchase the saw as well, which can be purchased for a base price of $10,800 (sounds a bit expensive to me, you can go to a hardware store and buy a portable concrete saw for a few hundred dollars.)

It is important to know that the OVE9000 Portable Saw takes up your primary weapon slot. Because of this, it is very important you select a well rounded secondary weapon, as you will be handicapping your combat abilities by limiting yourself to only one firearm.

The OVE9000 Portable Saw has a base concealment of 16.

Whenever you activate the saw, it produces a loud audible noise. This noise will alert nearby NPCs, who will call the cops. It is not advised that you cut anything, or even rev it up if you are trying to move quietly.

While reving the saw has no effect on the durability of the weapon, any contact the blade makes with a solid object, will reduce its durability. Even if you miss what you were supposed to cut, and cut a wall instead, it will still wear down the blade. That is why you need to carefully place your saw on the cutting points before starting it up. Skip ahead to section 3 if you don't care about using the saw as a weapon, to view some of the most common cutting points.

When your saw runs out of durability, hit the reload button to change to a new blade. If you run out of blades, more blades can be obtained in ammo bags.

The OVE9000 Portable Saw can be used as a weapon. Because it counts as a melee weapon, it benefits from damage increases to melee attacks, like Berserker and Pumping Iron.

There are two ways to attack with the saw, both are self explanatory. Method one it to use your melee key and just hit things with it, the same way you melee enemies with your gun. The second, and more fun method, is to activate the saw by holding down your fire weapon button and running into your enemies.

The saw is not a particularly effective weapon however. The blades wear down quickly, making it not very efficient as far as how many enemies you can kill with it before you need to swap the blade out.

One thing that the OVE9000 Portable Saw excels at however, is killing these fat sacks of waste. However it comes at a price. First, it takes almost an entire fresh sawblade to each one, and second, you must put yourself at risk to run up and saw him IN THE FACE.

Now, the real reason why you've decided to purchase the OVE9000 Portable Saw is because you want to rip stuff open like a kid hyped up on too much crappy pizza and cheap ice cream cake, opening presents at his 10th birthday party.

Now, while Payday 2 does provide you with little buzzsaw icons, to give you an idea of where you're supposed to be cutting to open stuff, its really not that specific. Here I've illustrated the most common things you will need the saw for. Correct places to saw are in green, while common misconception sawing places are pointed out in red. Do not waste your time sawing places the red areas.

Locked Doors (Pull Side)
As it is with all doors, you want to saw the knob, even though the latch bolt is what you would saw in real life.













Locked Doors (Push Side)
The same is true with the push side of the door, where the latch bolt is not visible. Cut the knob, and don't waste time trying to wedge the saw blade in between the door and the jamb.





















ATMs
Cut the top left corner of the ATM door to open it. Once open, you must saw the 4 tabs off the security cage to access the cash inside. Because on some missions there is a high volume of ATMs, its worth noting that two quick taps to the door will pop it open. One quick tap to each corner is sufficient to slice the tabs off the security cage.








Security Gates
Just like locked doors, many people are under the impression that you have to cut the meeting point between the door and the frame. This actually causes many people to miss the cutting point, cut the big square panel on the gate to get it open fast.
















Deposit Boxes
Common misconceptions with deposit boxes are that you must saw the locks, the hinges, or the latching point, similar to doors. While technically these are all correct, the reason is because you can saw ANYWHERE on a deposit box to open them. The entire door is a saw point, you can saw the middle of it and it will still work. Because you generally want to conserve blade durability when cutting open deposit boxes, due to the sheer volume of them, 2 quick taps with the saw will open a deposit box.







Art Cages
Cut each individual bar off to get the painting out of the case. Don't worry about cutting the artwork accidentally, it does not affect the painting. One quick tap should cut through each bar.












Sewer Access Grates
Saw the padlocks off the grate. Be careful where you stand, the grate will give way underneath you if you are standing on it!









Truck Hasps
Do not cut the hinge, or the frame side of the hasp, cut the center of the loose end of the hasp and it will pop open.

The OVE9000 Portable Saw is effected by the following skills. Bear in mind that any damage increases to the saw, also increases its cutting ability by that much when cutting open boxes and locks.

• Portable Saw Aced - Increases the number of saw blades you can carry.
  
• Overkill & Overkill Aced - Increases damage and efficiency while buff is active.
  
• Black Marketeer & Black Marketeer Aced - Reduces buying cost of OVE9000 Portable Saw.
  
• Control Freak - Sound created by the OVE9000 intimidates civilians.
  
• Smooth Talker Aced - Increases damage to your highlighted special enemies.
  
• Berserker - Increases damage and efficiency when health is low.
  
• Carbon Blade & Carbon Blade Aced - Increases efficiency and reduces durability loss.
  
• Enforcer Tier 5 Bonus - Increases damage and efficiency.
  
• Pumping Iron & Pumping Iron Aced - Increases damage to enemies.

• Cut Bulldozers in the face.
  
• Look at the pretty pictures that show you where you want to cut.
  
• Some skills affect the saw, most of these are self explanatory.
  
• When in doubt, cut the spot where you would normally put a key in the lock.
