Introduction
Horrible to discover such a guide, isn't it? Don't be too scared. Dungeon Defenders is a great game such as the community. There are many nice players who are hosting public games, answering your questions and helping you to succeed. Sometimes it is just frustrating to see as host that your mates don't even know the very least basics of the game.

While some reasons are hurting your chances to win a map others seems to be laughable but they become more serious as more the host has played the game. Users are doing the same things over and over again and repeating yourself gets annoying. Most likely you will experience this by yourself once you have played the game for a while.

However, I've written down a few reasons to give you a little guidance to lower the risk of being kicked. If you are taking following advise seriously you will be able to make public games more fun for yourself and your mates.

Disclaimer: I'm apologizing to all players who have been kicked by myself. Sometimes my own patience is beginning to wear thin. Don't take it personally. What will happen will happen!
Possible Reasons
Naming
If you are getting kicked immediately while you are joining then your name could be the reason. Expect to be kicked if you named yourself for example Tr0llM@ster3OOO, UrM4m5uck5 or in any other way obvious, offensive or vulgar. Also using a blank or unpronounceable name can lead to a kick. If a host needs to communicate with you then s/he wants an easy name other than Huntress or Jester to avoid misunderstandings.

Behavior
If you played already a while with the host and you are getting kicked out of the sudden then your behavior could be the reason. While some flaws are happening due to lack of knowledge others are more obvious on a second thought.
  • Being impatient
You don't want to annoy people who are willing to help you by being impatient and rude. If you asked a question then wait for a response instead of repeating it rapidly. There could be a more important task for now than answering your question especially while running a map.

Don't Ready Up before the builder is ready. The build timer decreases on some maps. A shortened build time probably causes an incomplete build and forces a restart.

  • Begging
Just don't. Don't ask others for gear, mana or other stuff. Don't think about asking for equipped gear, not even if you want to pay for it. It's equipped for some reasons. Don't join a game just to ask if we can play another map or on another difficulty.

  • Trading
If you are looking to trade then join a shop. Feel free to take a look at the Tavern shop and probably the floor after a run but don't expect that the host is willing to trade right now. However, asking once doesn't hurt after a run.

  • Looting
This isn't Vacuum Simulator 2016. Don't pick up every item, not even if they are green-indicated. Normally it is fine if you pick up some stuff but compare them before you mindlessly loot them. All items will be automatically sold when the Combat Phase starts. So there is no need to collect items to sell them for mana.

  • Absence
Sometimes you just have to leave for a moment. Usually this isn't a big deal if you inform the host about your absence. Expect to be kicked if you are going away silently or for a long time. That's not a free ride for you. Also waiting for you to Ready Up continuously can lead to a kick, even though you probably weren't away. Time is valuable :)

  • Forbidden areas
Just leave the forge while someone is building. Waiting for you to drop the mana back not only is highly annoying but also the effective build time will be reduced. If you pick up some mana by mistake then drop it back as soon as possible after the builder has changed to another hero. Next time make sure you don't pick up any mana by increasing the distance to the forge.

Also stay away from areas where the builder is building. Don't even think about standing on Tower Buff Beams while the builder still has to fill them with defenses. During the build phase every second counts.

Keep a sufficient distance to crystals. Some enemies are targeting you and while they are trying to hit you they also hit the crystal. Let alone the Ogres which may get lured directly to the crystal because you are attacking them. Stay close to Minions.

Lastly don't move to areas which are protected just by Auras, Traps and probably Tower Buff Beams. Otherwise you may lure Djinns and Ogres. Upgrading defenses at such areas will lure Djinns, don't perform any upgrade there.

  • Being disruptive
Don't open any chests unless the builder explicitly asked for. If you opened a chest by mistake then drop its mana immediately. Usually the builder has a fix route to go for. Don't build any defenses regardless of your stats or your opinion of the build. There are a lot of working strategies and a small change can lead to a lose. Follow instructions given by the host/builder.

Equipment
Don't run away if the host is trying to inspect you. While you are getting kicked regularly for using hacked items, some hosts want to ensure that you are suited appropriate for the difficulty you have chosen to join.

Expect to be kicked if you are not using an armor set or your resistance is too low. This isn't a big deal on easier difficulties but it becomes very important on Nightmare difficulty. It is recommendable to hit at least 66% resistance on Nightmare, better is 80% or more.

Using stat pets such as Kobold on a Treadmill, Fish in a Bowl or Diamond on a DPS hero is a frowned upon. Any other pet will increase your DPS greatly. Also the usage of a Propeller Cat is questionable on Nightmare difficulty. For an appropriate pet selection please visit following guide. http://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=197161711
In rare cases you will be kicked because of your high-end gear, especially if you haven't played the game for hundreds of hours. It's odd, unlikely and suspicion to get a mass of high-end gear in a few hours, also as a gift or purchase. Don't be upset if you know that your gear is clean. Sometimes it's just because the hosts doesn't want get boosted too much by your help.

Hero selection
In some cases it can be very important that you join with an appropriate hero to not get kicked immediately. You will have to join with a Summoner on survivals. So you are not forcing weapons to drop while all other players are using Summoner to force exclusively armor to drop.

Don't play as builder unless you are actually building or you've asked for allowance. Also playing with low level heroes without the agreement of the host/builder is a frowned upon. Normally it's just fine to switch from one hero to another as long as you've got resistance and you are actually still helpful. Don't forget to change back to your main DPS hero on the last wave if you have to fight a boss.

Choose wisely, melee heroes are not helpful to fight Mega Cupids such as using a second hero with an equipped Propeller Cat. If someone already uses a Propeller Cat and you don't want to use another hero change at least to a DPS pet to maximize the DPS output of the whole team.

Others
Sometimes it's just the ignorance of the host. Some hosts want to play privately although they are hosting a public game. Often they are unable to hide their game by simply opening the pause menu and choosing to hide the game due to pure laziness.

Other hosts are asking for help by hostnames at the server overview and if you are not joining with an appropriate hero you will get kicked immediately. Despite the fact that you probably wanted to change immediately to a hero which has been asked for. Basically you can call yourself lucky to not have wasted more time playing with such hosts. They would have kicked you sooner or later anyways.

In some cases you just have filled the last slot while the host is waiting for a friend to join the game. This can happen while they are still trying to team up or when a player lost the connection previously. Don't take it personally. It's just bad timing this time.
Final Notes

If anyone didn't understand Don't Join's message: If other people try to take mana from chests, only the host can do it. That would be great. And when the hosts get mana and there's another player by them, they will not get the mana, just the host would. That would work out a lot. :steamhappy:

Today, I had a situation like this where the OP (almost 5K hours player) was constantly kicking me from the game. I just wanted to find a nightmare game to play and it was the only one around to match me. Of course I -rep his profile page. Went back to the game a while later and he goes “I saw your lovely comment Helen”. (It was a  Unfriendly). So I asked him why he was kicking me then? He insulted me and called me pathetic that I can’t see. See what? Being toxic?
